Hey bud had a awesome Schwinn as my first . It was bought at a yard sale in the yr 1975 -It was the size your showing , it had two speeds a granny gear then a higher gear with a generator and light . Haven't a clue what the yr or model was but it was a Schwinn . It would fly once you was able to pop it in to that low or high gear - Thanks dude awesome . Bicycle theft was high back in the day .

I just picked up a Schwinn Racer model which when I did my homework on the serial number, it looks to be one that was made in May, 1966.... However, the decals on the frame are not where yours are located, the Schwinn signage are on the top bar and not the diagonal bar... Could this be because someone was trying to restore the bike and put it there mistakenly..!!!

I literally just bought a Schwinn Racer just like that one.

Beautiful. I am picking up a 1962 Schwinn Racer in black tomorrow as my next project bike. I can't wait to get started on it. This bike will join my current project a 1964 Collegiate also in black. Your videos have inspired me to dive into the old Schwinns. I am loving the quality of workmanship and the simplicity of design.

Who doesn't love an old Schwinn? I still take out the '77 Varsity now and again just for kicks. It hasn't always been carbon, "brifters" and 11 speed cassettes kids!
Totally agree, keep all original. Clean, lube, polish, yada yada yada. Although, you do want cables & brakes to work too! Maybe a Jell Seat? Haha, kidding of course. Lol's -
Schwinn has been around a very, very long time

How much did you pay for it, Bikeman?

made me think of my old huffy 3 speed I had back in grade school. Loved sitting up straight when riding. To this day, I ride the same way on my hybrid trek. BTW, would love to see a posting of either 1 or 2 watt bike lights, especially ones that mount to to top of your helmet and use AAAs

I have a black one like that and it flys

That's a sweet bike!

warms the heart to see such love put upon a machine.

I have a 1978 Raleigh Competition GS in almost perfect condition. All I am going to do to it is replace the bearings and give the chain a good cleaning. The former owner hardly used it. The Brookes saddle is still rock hard. My poor ass is going to break it in this spring.

I'm with Tenspeed, shine her up and don't touch a thing, but entirely up to you.
