I got this bike for Christmas back in 77...I must have ridden it 10,000 miles as a kid......I think I would need a new Ferrari today to replicate the joy that mongoose brought me back then...

I am really thrilled that this video has more than 11,500 views. My older brother made this video with me when I lived in San Diego. I actually bought this bike by accident. I was having a flash back about being a little kid and recalling that my older brother owned a mid 80's BlueMax. I wanted to find one really bad and have a piece of that memory of those times. I still look up to him and his bike was awesome! I how ever ended up buying this 1977 MotoMag and a 1981 Roger DeCoster. I still want to find a 85/86 BlueMax one of these days. The bike has been completely chromed even the rims.
Thank you for everyone that has watched the video and for all the cool comments. -
Why would people thumbs down this video? Seriously.

Beautiful! I worked in a No. Cal bike shop in the 70s (14yr old) when this model bike showed up in the showroom. Motomags, Ashtabula sand-blasted cranks, nylon sprocket (brand escapes), Shimano all around; Oakleys. But it was in the metal-flec blue; all three matching blue naugahyde wrapped foam pads, intact. I would sit and stare, and stare at that bike, everyday I worked. I knew every last detail like a book. But $249 was way out of the range of my paper route wages. The bike disappeared just before Christmas that year. The chrome version followed in January; my obsession renewed. Thanks for bringin it back.

-
You could sell that for a lot of money that version of bike was the first mongoose ever made
-
Maxxis made the tires. It's a Mongoose bike.

Can we still call a Chevy a Dodge even though it says Chevy right on it. Yea sure call the Maxxis a Mongoose or the Huffy. All one in the same.
-
I just watched your bike vid, nice lookong bike.

The chrome looks amazing. It looks like the stem has been rechromed. I've got a black one with Tuff 2's on. I've got some yellow NOS coaster Tuff 1's which would look good on the Motomag but they're going on a 1979 Torker L.P.

I had two of those when I was younger wish I still had one chrome the other blue wld be a nice project bike now!

@Superfatboy, Maxxis is a tire company and lots of kids would strip their stickers and put on custom set ups, especially on the dipped frame like that one. So, most likely it's a goose. The head tube gusset should have a thick but nice weld bead and of course the circle cut-out. Also, look for the 100% chromo sticker on the seat tube. Finally, under the bottom bracket (where the cranks go) there should be a serial #. The interwebz has got to have some sort of way to check if it's org.
