Thanks for the review - this was great. thinking of a Motobecane 29er Fantom Pro. Your video really helped orient me to what a great bike it is and the incredible value you get. The concern on the weight is a valid one and as I make my decision one I am trying to consider. Comparing the weights of a carbon frame (stumpjumper) with an aluminum frame may be apples to oranges, but it is what you had to go by with your experience. Agree with you that the component set you get for the price can't be beat. If the weight is an issue for others, one thing to think about is the Motobecane Fly Ti, which drops the weight to just over 21 lbs from 28.5 lbs for the aluminum 15.5 in frame. You tack on an additional $600 dollars, get a titanium frame and more XTR on the drivetrain... Depends on how important that weight is to you and a decision I am trying to make now. Still for $2000, the bike specs are comparable to a Trek, Fisher or Stumpjumper that would be $7k This was a great clip - thanks for sharing your experiences!

Thanks for your videos on this. I'm thinking of getting a Motobecane. I think you're right about it being enthusiast-level parts on an amateur-level frame. I don't think frame weight matters that much. Time is money, and if I spend the time I'm saving riding instead of working, I'll lose more weight than I'd save getting a more expensive frame.
