YETI SB5+ TURQ SERIES CARBON EAGLE XO1 BUILD FULL BIKE SPECS: http://www.yeticycles.com/bikes/sb5-plus/specs MSRP: $6999 FORK: FOX 34 150mm Boost SHOCK: FOX Float Factory DRIVETRAIN: SRAM XO1 with Eagle BRAKES: SRAM Guide RS DROPPER: Raceface Turbine WHEELS: DT SWISS 370 AVAILABLE FOR RENTAL AT: http://absolutebikes.com/rentals/ Hey guys, Thanks for watching my test ride of the Yeti SB5+! I want to start by thanking Absolute Bikes for letting me hop on their brand new bike and take it out for a rip (on which I dented the rim already!!!). I knew that I already liked the SB5, and I felt that the plus tires didn't change that at all. The plus tires definitely helped me in certain situations such as traction and rocky sections, but did make for slightly slower turning of the bike. I personally will opt for the standard tire, but I can also see this being a great fit for many riders looking to up their game and gain confidence in the chunky stuff, speed in the downhills, and just all around looking to have a great time. Cheers! if you got a new bike soon. would you get that bike?

Having ridden both the SB5 and the plus if you were buying one of them for your single quiver bike which one would you buy? Why?

Hey Alex, Next year you should go to Copper Harbor, Michigan in the summer. It is a really cool place and really far way from any other civilization and is a small place with really good riding. They even have two downhill trails there! I definitely recommend it, even though I'm only 14 I've been to Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and California for mountain biking. Even with that I can honestly say Copper Harbor is the coolest place I have ever been to and some of the best riding. What really makes the place special is the atmosphere and the people there. Best place ever.

Do they live in the same town?

this suspension platform sounds like something I should try.

I personally am not crazy about the plus size bikes at the moment, the reverse compatibility on most manufacturers is not there ( you cant run a 2.3 inch tire for example on a 27.5 inch wheel practically although possible) I think there is a sweet spot for most applications, in general 3.0 tires are overkill for all but snow, loose sand etc.
The larger the tire volume at the same weight as a smaller tires less volume equates to weak sidewalls and bouncing at higher speeds. If you get a tire at 3.0 with stronger sidewalls you then have more weight, which you loose some of the maneuverability and snappy handling. SO it is possible as tire technology progresses we could be using larger tires for DH. For now I have been happy on 2.4 inch tires this whole season and have ridden a huge variety of terrain. I would run a 2.5 , 2.6 and maybe even a 2.8 in some instances.
To summarize i think plus sized bikes and tires could be very helpful for beginner mountain bikers, as mentioned above they have a few applications where they are a good choice, but at the moment just a FEW, perhaps not enough for an all round mountain biker with one bike.. Until tire technology catches up ill be on 2.4-2.6 the early part of the season, pedaling up and down. -

I have a scott genius 720 plus size. i'll tell anyone who'll listen how brilliant plus tyres are, especially on rocky technical trails. you mentioned you were 5ft 10in and riding a large frame, I'm 6ft 2in and I ride a large frame, albeit with a slightly longer stem than most. I find a smaller frame is much more agile and fun on the downhill sections of a trail than the XL.
