-
This is in Nijkerk my hometown. Nice to came across.
-
Shit , i shouldn't watch all these cycling videos , i hurt myself really bad 2 years ago , i always sat on a bike......always.

Uhm, as far as I know those markings do not give pedestrians on their way from bus-shelter to the actual stop ANY rights at all. The markings are just the general way of letting the road-user know there is a risen-road surface: almost every speed-bump in residential areas has them as well.

How is snow removal handled in the curb segregated bike lanes?
-
It's surprising to see someone point out that 'there are segregated lanes' and that if they're not segregated 'they are at least continuous!' That's something I would have never considered as something noticeable. It seemed like a pretty dangerous road to me t.b.h! Hope you had a nice trip.

Those lines of white triangles are called "shark's teeth", if they point towards you, you have to give right of way. If not, you have right of way.
-
Those are actually pretty skinny bicycle lanes, in my town they are much wider.
-
wait a sec, I live here omg .. just casually watching this and then I realised lol
-
looks rather average, normal, everywhere around to me... how else would you organise bike roads... we have the same stuff in our town..
-
You stopped at the roundabout but you have right of way. You see those "sharkteeth"-markings on the street? When they are on your road, it means you've reached a street that has right of way. Since a bike is equal to a car, you have right of way. Your bikepath isn't divided by any lines or anything, so continue. Its also very annoying for cardrivers if they have to stop for someone who has right of way in the first place ;-)

That's my hometown! Nijkerk!

Thanks for the comments. I was sometimes hesitant being unfamiliar with how things are in NL. Yes, the bike park is tiny compared with Utrecht but HUGE compared with the UK. If that traffic island is a bad example of Dutch islands, then that just shows how good things are in the Netherlands compared with the UK.

Some cities encourage bikes.......... they provide safe walking and biking lanes and trails. Cities also encourage businesses and apartments to provide safe places to lock or store a bicycle. Encourage your elected officials to do more. Speak up.. become an advocate for bicycle use in your city.

Maybe now people from other countrys dont think that we are always cycling and are high all the time and wear wooden shoes
-
one thing, as a cyclist you should be indicating when you turn with your arm, especially at roundabouts so cars don't need to stop for no reason
-
Did you notice the white pole with the red letters? Those are meant for cyclists who want to cycle between village and cities. Sometimes the letters on these white poles are green. They mark the difference between a route with more nature and less cars.
