http://www.georgecarlin.com Never before heard conversations between the late, great George Carlin and his friend and co-author, Tony Hendra. George Carlin: And I had a jet plane at the time, I bought my own jet plane, early in this whole mad house thing— Tony Hendra: What? GC: Well lemme tell you what happened. Suddenly theres a suggestion, heres a good, this is a good tax shelter, if you get an airplane. So I said, Ok, fine. So I get a Jet Commander, its an aero commander but its a jet. The jet commander. And we would fly everywhere. And I wanna tell you the wonderful thing about the plane, this was a wonderful moment for me, we flew one time into LaGuardia, to do New York dates and stuff, and we didnt have to go anywhere and I didnt have to work anywhere that night, werent gonna use the plane, it was on the ground. I went out there, and I sat in my own plane, with two six-packs and an ounce of pot and a lotta cocaine, alone, on the ramp at LaGuardia and I just had a party. A one-man party. And I did all this stuff and I just enjoyed the music as loud as I could and I said Im in my own jet plane, in a New York airport, where I used to—what we used to do was to steal a lousy bike in our neighborhood, and ride lousy bikes all the way out to LaGuardia airport cross 125th street, over the TriBoro Bridge, and out to Grand Central Parkway to LaGuardia, where there were bike racks, where nice kids would leave their bikes, expensive bikes, good bikes, and we would leave the stolen ones from the neighborhood, and taken nice bikes and ride them back home. And that was, you know, bicycle being a very low mode of transportation and the jet plane being a very high one, I thought it was just a wonderful contrast in my life. Here I used to come here and steal bicycles, now Im sitting in my own jet plane doing all this cocaine. At any rate it was a symbol, its a wonderful symbol, of excess— Tony Hendra: Sure. GC: And speed.
