Additional LED Lights for Motorcycles Honda CB500X Budget Modification

I have now created a new channel dedicated to bikes so please subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCljz5n-ZFvsDNiAer09IQLA Not sure if you can call it a mod it's just a pair of eBay bicycle LED lights being clamped on the indicator stalks. I'm sure this can be done to CB500F, CBR500R and most motorbikes with the right size indicator stalks. I took the rubber cushions off the fastening so they fit just fine. I'm not going to pay for £100 daytime running light or fog light etc but thought this less than £10 solution will give my bike some more road presence especially in the dark.

I have honda cb hornet... But my question is which oil you use for your bike chain ?

Hey excellent idea I did the same with my Honda and led Lenser p2 light.

this is ridiculous. spend a few dollars and get some proper motorcycle auxiliary lights. after replacing the batteries from these a couple times, you would have spent about the same.

Hi H, Very tempting, especially with the power the new LED systems show. However, I suspect you may have a problem when you come to the MOT because lights on vehicles should demonstrate type approval with markings on their lenses. Probably you should remove them for the MOT.
Interestingly, what I could see of the testing criteria in this source http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual/mc_contents.htm does not refer to any additional lighting other that which is a statutory requirement and must be in working order. (It would pay to read this through carefully). UN ECE 48 regulates specification and type approval marking - it might be worth trying to see where the lights should be fitted and what characteristics they should have.
For example, in ECONOMIC COMMISSION FOR EUROPE / INLAND TRANSPORT COMMITTEE / World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations / Working Party on Lighting and Light-Signalling / Sixty-third session / Geneva, 29 - 31 March 2010 / Item 16 of the provisional agenda / REGULATION No. 53 (Installation of lighting and light-signalling devices for L3 category vehicles) / Proposal for Supplement 12 to the 01 series of amendments to Regulation No. 53 / Submitted by the expert from the International Motorcycle Manufacturers Association /
Paragraph 5.11.1., amend to read: "5.11.1. If installed, the daytime running lamp shall automatically be ON when the engine is running. If the headlamp control (if any) is in the ON position, the daytime running lamp need not come on when the engine is running. If no daytime running lamp is installed, the headlamp shall automatically be on when the engine is running."
and
"6.13.7.1. If installed, the daytime running lamp shall be switched ON automatically when the device, which starts and/or stops the engine, is in a position which makes it possible for the engine to operate. The daytime running lamp shall switch OFF automatically when the headlamps are switched ON, except when the latter are used to give intermittent luminous warnings at short intervals.
Currently it is not clear to me without more research how far and with which specification the implementation of daylight running lights on motorcycles is regulated.
This is just a heads-up. Here in Switzerland I know I might have a problem if my motor vehicle does not conform to the regulations and I'm stopped for any reason. Even my Ducati's factory-fitted exhausts were criticized by a cop once at a roadside check!
All the best, Rob & keep the videos coming!
