Aero Helmet Wind-Tunnel Shootout
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
We headed to the FASTER Speed Lab to find out which helmet is fastest, then went for a ride to see which is best ventilated and asked a jury of our peers which one looks coolest. The helmets on test are the POC Octal Aero, Specialized S-Works Evade, KASK Protone, Giro Synthe, Bell Star Pro, Giant Rivet, Bontrager Ballista and Giro Air Attack and Louis Garneau Course. Why no Kask infinity
-
send me a bikeradar kit ha ha ha ha

why was temperature not taken in consideration? i would think the bell would be a better helmet in cold climates and it comes with vents shutters to control how much air flow you want... I think the bell is the best winter helmet...
-
Why didn't you add a few regular helmets for a base line?
-
I just got my first bicycle helmet. I look like a mushroom. I don't think I'm the only one to think so. And it doesn't feel like it could give much protection. Those racing ones look cool but there will be haters. Looks to me like it protects more.

and the 2016 version of this?? there are many more helmets to review this year and im just waiting for your test to decide on which one
-
funny you did not test the Casco Speedairo or the ABUS
-
So what is the reference drag? Like a non-aero helmet or maybe even the Specialized Prevail that was mentioned in the article. Please post numbers for those alongside the existing tables in the article

When was the last time you saw someone tape their helmet straps to their face? This whole test needs a do over.Even the way the tape was applied was totally random.

When you called up your friend at Strava, you should have used that gray thing you hide under the helmet (a/k/a brain). Next time you call your Strava friends, ask them to pull data from rides marked with "race," because when you ain't racing, you don't need to be wearing one of those faster helmets.
-
Should check out Giant's newer version of that helmet, it's pretty sweet looking and apparently excels at allowing air to flow across your head.
-
Aero does not look silly on the flats. It looks fast.
-
aero dynamic helmets made by giro, poc, smith, mavic, casco, s work.....all were made saying we have the best helmet that will cut through the wind and make you faster, not oh we have aero helmets with built in refrigerator. review based on what aero were designed for..speed. not built in a.c

folks riding bikes, buying helmets and expecting air conditioning type air flow. even when you have the best car in the summer or anytime the sun is out the car itself is hot. imagine riding a bike, hot weather x n yet you want to feel like you are under the shade of a tree at home
seriously? then even if any of these aero were truly to the point, next would be ....oh they are too heavy, or two light won't prevent crash. if it isn't one thing it's the other. all to make sales and maybe get poked in the ayus. lmao, buy a l
helmet to protect your head, not to make a fashion statement, or as if the bike you spent 2000 plus dollars on is supposed to be faster based on the helmet. why don't you just buy the best helmet out there.....sit and your bike wait for the helmet to get off your head and pedal the damn bike. Lol idiots -
just for the record folks.....if you like helmets that feel like it's not on your head at all because it's so light. Guess what, when you crash y I will feel, if lucky enough that there was nothing there to protect you. don't base buying a helmet on videos by folks paid to talk poop. if you were in a car crash would you like it to be a solid vehicle or paper thin?

inaccurate review. anyone who saw this video. look at the video by bell folks. they tried their own wind tunnel. after test, bell said the star pro was faster with the visor on. so, I ask. why would professional idiots overlook what makes the helmet aero? both the air attack and star pro are faster with visor cutting through wind..... I'm not a pro, buy I know idiots with degrees in stupidity.

Would love to see updated comparison against Kask Infinity & Met Manta

How can you do all those tests then not show any results? Then make the winning helmet sound like an opinionated choice?! Show the results and we can decide for ourselves.
