Anti-Cycling bias to a whole new level. Pulled over again

UPDATE: The Collier County Sheriff's office has joined our mission to educate people about safe driving. We have added additional content to their website and their officers are all receiving instructions on how this law works and applies to bicyclists in the road. **Please refrain from leaving negative unrelated comments. Please contribute to the dialog, but do so respectfully. I will delete abusive or hateful comments** **I do not know this officer and I don't wish him any ill will. I am just focusing on education and safety.** **I honestly believe that he had my safety and best interest in mind during this incident** This was the third time I have been pulled over in this same stretch of road during my commute home from work. Three different officers with very similar mindsets. They all believe I am impeding traffic. They insist that I need to ride to the right side of the lane. This officer said that he doesn't care how wide the roads are, and he doesn't care whether it's safe or not, I need to move over to let cars pass. I still can't believe that he said what he said. I'm just glad that I decided to get cameras for my bicycle to record this ongoing harassment. I don't know what to do, as I am following the law and being a very courteous road user. This is important to share so people can begin to understand our rights as road users. Don't take my word for it, look it up! I first show a few minutes of my commute route so that you can see how I ride to be conspicuous and predictable in the lane. Also, when it's safe, I try and release as much traffic by me as I can. http://floridabicycle.org http://iamtraffic.org https://www.facebook.com/BicyclistsBelongInTheTrafficLane

I ride a bike. I have been hit 5 times. Broken arm ribs and other pain memories. The cops go after me for the cause of the problem I stay off main roads have been ticketed for riding in the alleys. They cop don't give a shit about a guy on a bike. Still waiting to be meet a opening car door.
-
I love how people complain about the few bikers who don't follow the rules but when they do they still complain
-
impedeing the flow of traffic, get the fuck out of the way

The law states you must ride as far to the right shoulder as safely possible. If five or more cars are waiting to pass you must pull off and allow them to go. It is selfish cycling like this that has ruined it for everyone.
-
You do not have the right to slow down the traffic to your speed, move over to the side of the road and let them pass, I do not own a car and have ridden all my life and I would not be as selfish as you, here's the concept of road use you don't know about and is not taught in any class or book, it's called "common courtesy", better still use the footpath which is right next to the road. OMG you make me so angry because you think you are in the right.
-
to me it looked like he was near to the right side of the road.

Due to the impeding traffic law, every road has a minimum speed limit, whether it is posted or not.
It is generally 50% of the speed limit, though will vary.
A car would likely be cited for going an average of under 30 in a 45. -
I agree, move over to the side. Share the road, yes...but, vehicles take priority.

Hi My Friends Ride Safe, would you mind if i use this clip in my next compilation about Police and biker with the proper credit to your channel and video?

Your typical ignorant cop.

I honestly don’t get it why you think it’s safe to claim the entire lane when you think it’s not safe for a car behind you to overtake.
- It’s not your decision to make wether it’s safe to to overtake. This decision has to be made by the people behind you.
- You have more chance of surviving an accident while being swiped by a vehicle than being hit from behind right on the middle of the hood of that same vehicle.
- By claiming the entire lane you make sure it takes more time to overtake you. This makes overtaking you more dangerous than it needs to be, for all users of the road around you and yourself.
Here is some advice from someone from a country with more bicycles than inhabitants:
- Always use bicycle lanes when available.
- Always use the right hand side of the outside lane appropriate for the direction you want to go.
- Always make your intentions clear to other road users. Indicate when turning or changing lanes.
- Use your ears and/or mirrors for pointers what’s going on around you.
- Make sure you are visible for the other users of the road. Use proper lights at night and reflectors that make you visible from every angle.
- When riding a low or small bike that causes that you cannot been seen by a car following a car following you, put a fluorescent flag on a long flexible stick on it.
Long story short:
No matter if you have the law on your side, when it comes to a conflict between a bicycle and a vehicle, the bicycle always loses.
The hospitals and cemeteries are littered with proof.
Rights are granted, not taken. -
you want to find out how dumb a cop is let him talk

what should be done in times like this when you KNOW the cop is full of shit, demand the "ticket" and then go after he's badge. until it is taut at the police academy "you write a bogus ticket, you WILL be sued" a LAW Enforcement officer NOT knowing the law he is enforcing should be fined
