The kind of hate and trolling that some riders have towards e-bikes is precisely what makes me stay away with the wider cycling community. But I can answer the question in the video easily: YES, they are tons of fun. Get one if you can, you won't regret it!

I actually bought an E-Bike last year and its fantastic, the place where i live is pretty steep and before with my regular bikes i was barely even able to get up most of the hills and even if i did i had to take a few minute brake before going up another one.
When i bought an e-bike it all changed, you literally just pedal the same way into a mountain as if you were on a flat road, you can't even feel the difference between going uphill and on a normal road.
My bike costed around 1.5k euros, can't remember the model but can find it if anyone wants to, alone with the motor it can go upto 35km/h, with normal pedaling and the motor at full speed i can easily reach 40km/h, if i were to actually pedal as hard as i can and let the motor go on full speed i can reach about 45-47km/h.
The battery is quite amazing too, it recharges fully from 0 in about 6 hours, sounds long but on motor alone from a fully charged battery you can ride about 100km, not counted in hills since they take alot more battery life, if pedaling and with motor assistance it can extend upto 200km.
If you enjoy going on biking trips and such i highly recommend it. -

I think one of the things really frustrating people in the comments, is people who defend e-bikes seem to pretend they are participating in the same sport, well you're not. I've actually heard the argument "It's only 250 watts", or "It's only 1/4 horsepower". That is a ridiculous argument. That is a lot of extra power that your body is not having to input to achieve your current speed at the time. Making your body do the work is one of the main appeals of cycling. Watching your times get better as you put months of effort in, getting leaner, witnessing your legs transform and take shape over those months, this is one of the main appeals. If you are riding a regular bike and someone is able to go faster than you using their regular bike, that means their body is capable of more than yours was. That's okay, you discipline yourself, put hard work in, and maybe you will be able to match their speed someday, and that day is going to feel really good. The faster riders were the ones who were the most dedicated, they worked hard for that, now they get overtaken all the time by people with less discipline sharing the trail pretending they are participating in the same sport. I'm not including the people with disabilities here, they are the legitimate users of this technology. Most of you have a perfectly functioning "albeit untrained" body, and if you put more effort in you would only get stronger. But due to the discipline required in this sport, you wouldn't even be on the trail if this technology didn't exist. This is another point I hear in defense of e-bikes.
Imagine for a second a hypothetical scenario where a special golf ball was invented that allowed it to steer itself mid flight to give a little bit of an edge, don't worry about how it does this, just think of the "what if". How are the old school golfers going to feel with the sudden influx of new people matching or bettering their scores? What about there just being more people on the course in general? -
Q: Are ebikes fun?
A: Yes. So are dirt bikes and 4x4s.
Q: Do dirt bikes, 4x4s, or ebikes belong in a mountain bike publication, or on mountain bike trails?
A: No. It's GMBN - Global MOUNTAIN BIKE Network - not Motocross World. -
E-bikes are fun until your battery dies....then they are bloody heavy!

The question here is really: Are E-bikes fun in Saalbach? I imagine it wouldn't be as fun on regular trails. Unless you're out of shape. Then I'd say: whatever gets you moving!
-
Just got back from 3 weeks in Europe. I was actually riding at Saalbach last week. E-bikes are everywhere around Europe now. It hasn't really taken off in the US yet, but I'm sure it will.

E-bike? Whats the point and wheres the fun in that? Its all about physical fitness and cardio when it comes to biking and e-bike is taking that away. Yet another fad. I'll pass.

Did that exact climb on my XC mtb about 6 weeks ago (no 'E' here) and have to say the 'impossible steep bit' is beyond difficult. Had a good collapse in a heap at the top!
-
Of course they're fun... So are dirt bikes (motox), but I don't necessarily want them to share space. This argument about "hey, if it gets people out on the trails, it can't be bad" is the polar opposite of my views...I want to promote whatever prevents people from crowding the trails! Brakes that get stuck on? Now you're talkin'...
-
can you do a long weely when the motor is working on the bike?
-
Great, go for more ebikes. 🤘
-
Believe it or not, E-bikes do give some folks mobility who otherwise wouldn't be able to. Pretty sweet bikes! Not all bad.
