The town's many factories provide jobs for over 10-thousand county residents. Some of the finest work comes from the Quyang Xinying Stone Carving Factory where sculptors render large blocks of white marble into human forms for markets in Europe, Japan and North America. The Xinying Carving Factory has tapped into the rich market of copying Western figures and no request is too outrageous. A collection of winged angels stand ready to fly off to customers in Rome or be loaded onto trucks for the drive to Beijing where a new market booms among a growing middle class. On the showroom floor prices range from five hundred (US) dollars for a one meter carving to twenty five hundred (US)dollars for larger pieces. Foreign dealers earn more than ten times these fees in the art markets of Paris, Tokyo and New York. Entrepreneurs like 63-year-old factory founder Zhen Yan Cang is pleased with his ability to turn stone into a fortune for himself and his 186 employees. Successful township enterprises are absorbing some of China's millions of unemployed workers, dismissed from failing state owned factories. Changes in the way the world conducts business led to the factory's presence on the Internet in 1998.
