R6 and R3 are totally different bikes. R6 is not a beginner bike. No one in their right mind should start on an R6. It's the most race focused bike of the 4 Japanese inline 4's.
-
I learned on a R6 but I guess if your not motor sport literate, you should learn on a supped up dirt bike
-
the r6 seats are shit. but a great bike

You dont need ABS for the R3. If you take a the Motocycle Safety course they teach you how to brake properly and suddenly without it. Then from there you practice on your own.
I made the mistake of getting an R6 as a first bike because "its only 600cc". Every experienced rider/mechanic I have talked to always tell me this bike is a beast, respect it. Every single one of them. CCs mean nothing at all, its how its used on the bike. For example 600cc bikes range like this for e.g. 50hp/39ftlbs to 122hp/89ftlbs. Then you got to take in to consideration how the bike is setup for e.g. street, track, tour, cruise, etc.. How sharp are the brakes? Riding position? All of these you need to look at. R6 is not a beginner bike, do not let anyone tell you otherwise. The bike was made to go fast on a track, and it does so very very well.
I have both, I love the R3, infact I am already modding it. Its fun to learn on something with a huge margin of error. -
I've my R25 for my first bike, is it good?

Physically is their a major difference between the size of the r3 and r6 such as if someone would have seen riding an r3 would they notice that the bike is small or is their barely a difference in size?
-
the seating position is awesome though and it gets speed not a tyrant in torque
