Best First Bike Tips 250 vs 600 vs 1000 Revised

Alrighty so I tried to mention all I could think of that you should consider when buying a motorcycle. In this description, I will try to include any missed information from the video. 1. MONEY Buying your first motorcycle can be difficult if you don't have much money, so a good idea may be to buy a used bike. A used ninja 250 can cost around $2000 and a nice 600 around $5000. This is very dependent on the condition and year but in general, these prices can find you a decent bike. I will buy my next street bike new just because I would like to be the one to break it in, but for a new rider, a used bike will save you a lot of money and you can learn all the do and do nots. I would not recommend a new rider to buy a brand new bike. Remember, motorcycles DO NOT save you money XD so don't go and buy a bike just to save money. What you save in gas you end up spending in tires and maintenance. 2. Which Bike Should I Buy? This is a hard question as it is dependent on YOU. I really have to know you personally to give a definite decision but what I can say is that age, responsibility, & talent play a roll in the decision. Wether you want a dual sport or a sport bike is a different topic and completely personal opinion. If you are under 18 you MUST not start on a liter bike!! Even if you can handle the power, you will have a hard time learning in the corners and ultimately, become a squid. Liter bikes should not be purchased until you have unlocked the full potential of a 600 ;) That being said if you are over 18 I still don't recommend a liter bike. If you are a heavier guy then get a 600 or a ninja 650, or sv 650. Learn how to actually ride before you race. The best riders don't start on 1000cc. So should you consider a 250? Well yeah I think so. Especially if you are broke, have no experience, suck at riding motorcycles, or are a crazy bastard. Often it is a good idea to go sit on and ride a few bikes to see what you like best. And if you need some motorcycle experience first, than ride a small dirt bike to learn how the clutch works. 3. COSTS If you purchase a 600 or liter bike YOU ABSOLUTELY MSUT buy a steering stabilizer if it is not already equipped with one. These are crucial to your bikes stability and possibly your life. Also the bigger the cc the faster you go through tires, gas, and the more expensive the insurance is. You often need to buy chain lube, oil + filter and plexus plastic polish. Once you get your bike you will want to do upgrades which get pricey, especially if you want a loud exhaust so you can be heard. Just something to consider. 4. Requirements If you are under 21 in California you must take the msf course and get your motorcycle permit before you can start riding. Even if you are over 21, I recommend the msf course for a beginner rider as it will help teach you the basics and get you some seat time. 5. Take Care of Your Baby I recommend changing the oil at around every 3k miles with full synthetic oil and a new oil filter. Keep up on the maintenance and if you do buy a new bike, be careful not to scratch it and change the oil at the small increments (first at 500ish miles). Also lube your chain to extend life and dampen noise o fate chain. Dry chains like to get very loud. Over time of ownership you will learn all the little things involved in the bike life. I bought a 2017 Honda Grom a few weeks ago just to have a screw around bike. Now I find myself riding it to work every day. And of course now I want a bigger bike. Everyone's saying a 250 is a waste of time and money. Most people grow out of them really quickly. So naturally I'm looking at 600s now

i currently have a gsxr 1000 and saving for a s1000rr hp4 (15). this is more for my friend than me, he always tries to top me all the fucking time and hes moderately likes bikes (not as much as me) so he tells "my first bike is either going too be a Kawasaki h2r or a kawasaki zx14r" im all like "nice dude cant wait too see it but you know that the h2r isnt street legal" then he laughs then, i realized what he was doing (he was saying "my first is gonna be bigger and faster than yours" a payed him mind but he started to get annoying after that. he started customizing his zx14 on midnight club no less he shows me his customized zx14 it had pink lights and wind screen with the bike bieng kawasaki green and i thought it looked nice but as his mom walks down i ask him "when are you getting your motorcycle" she says "well hes not getting one" me and my other friend chuckle and i could tell he felt embarresed

I started with a Yamaha YZF R125 and it just wasn't powerful enough to be worth learning on, and it's not as forgiving as most 125s

I suggest a 250 as a starting bike no matter what age. After a couple months of getting used to then you sell it and upgrade to a 600 then sell it after a couple months then you buy an h2R and you die.

Of course man ! But before you make a decision, you need to ask yourself if you are a responsible person. Bike itself isnt a problem, it is You, who rides the bike. As long as you realize that, you are good to go.
I said that from my own experience, i had ZERO biking(motorbike) experience, i took the safety course, and i started on a CBR600RR. And i ABSOLUTELY love it !! -
I'm about to buy my first bike. due to my financial situation I only have two choices. a CBR 1000 RR 2008 or a Yamaha R6 2007. both are from friends willing to take small down payment and monthly payments. I'm 6'0 and 270. I'm 36 yrs old. so I'm not trying to show off. just really want a bike. can you please give me your opinion? I really want to the CBR. but don't know what to do. I keep hearing that it is a mistake..

When I got my 06'Ninja 250 I almost ate my fence in the back yard when practicing riding around and between trees and obstacles. With that said I couldn't fathom recommending anyone to start with a liter bike. They should master cornering, shifting etc. on a forgiving bike. A 250 or maybe even a 650cc. Because Its much easier for someone to develop their riding skills if they're not tumbling down the street. Riding and gymnastics are fun but they should be kept separate.

Im really skinny (high metabolism) so i was thinking the CBR 300

My first bike right after MSC was a brand new R1. I had the money and the right maturity attitude. Started doing track days to become a skilled fast rider but hated the R1 since it gave no feedback on the corners. Most important class was suspension tuning for my body weight, riding skill, and track. I started out immediately in Class B group moving to A after 6 month. After putting 18K track miles first year on the R1 with 2 go downs on the track, I fixed it up good as new and sold it for more than I bought it for and ordered a Custom Ducati race bike spec'ed out. After riding a street Ducati on the road and hating it, I realized immediately where Ducati's shine, on the race track. My goal was to push the limits of what I can do and what the bike can do and I had no excuses. I had a good mentor with the Bostrom brothers showing up on track days. Saw Eric more than Ben. Both those guys had great mental attitude about going fast. They were very disciplined about everything and never got emotions get the best of them. I learned a lot from them since both were very giving people and always wanted to help others become better. I can still remember that day I was in the groove knee down shredding tires and Eric comes around me two up with a videographer. I'm knee down and he's on the outside line straight up passing me on a KTM 250! My jaws dropped and I said how the F--k did he do that, I gotta learn that one. This is where I learned that a 250 in the right hands can spank any 1000cc around the corners. They don't use brakes, don't need them.
