Does someone know if they are difficult to install. Will they work on a bike with derailleurs?

Hi, I'm 63 and am in love with a Townie bicycle. I have ridden before but its been several years due to health issues. I feel I would be able to ride again with a little help on the balance end. I'm hoping this set is the answer. I've had knees replace but my surgeon said if I feel like I can tolerate it to go for it. Do you think they would help solve my problem.

Can a 16" wheeled bicycle use these kind of training wheels?

I just placed an order for these stabilizers and I'm hoping they work well on my bike. I bought a bike on line recently thinking I could still ride the way I did in spite of balance problems due to health issues. Got the bike assembled, tried it out and my balance is way off. These wheels should be just what I need... fingers crossed.

****and the trikes are wider, don't know how I messed up that last sentence :)

My husband has spina bifida and has balance issues. He is able to walk great with braces on but is unable to ride a 2 wheeled bike. We looked extensively into trikes and have found a model that meets our needs, almost. This looks great and I have started to look into it. This would allow him to buy the bike he wants and then adapt the bike to his needs! He is 28 and never been able to ride. We did the measurements and the trikes having something that is not as wide seals the deal.

Wow, are you an asshole

Hi I am looking and see the wheels are touching the ground but in reviews I have read they don't unless the rider becomes unbalanced . Its confusing for me. I ride a tricycle but would like to be able to ride without worry on a two wheeler plus stabilisers . I would want them touching the ground though so are these for me?

So much for the loser comment from someone on this site.. I had a stroke and was left with no ankle movement or foot control on a weak left side and I can ride again due to these wheels. Call me a loser if you want but I love these things! Well worth their money.

My neice has down syndrome and she is awesome! She has a bike that she would love to ride but she is afraid to fall now she wont with these...
-
Cool!
-
that would be a good safety aid during winter biking...i slide once and my face hit the asphalt hard....now im thinking of wearing a full face helmet...but your stabilizer looks safer
-
Only a loser would use those.

You could add a video with a senior riding with it.

Those things cost more than the bike!!! And after you learn to ride without them, what good are they?
-
You should have rode the bike to see how it works Einstein!!!!!
-
is that for some sort of man child.......

Actually it is an extremely well made and well thought out product. Bruce, think in terms of an adult with a physical disability or that has had a stroke or life changing injury that impairs balance or coordination, they weigh in the neighborhood of 180, 200. 220 pounds. This product can be adapted to almost any bike frame and is strong enough to provide a true sense of security and stability for the rider. It opens up an otherwise inaccessible world for a number of people.
