I had first heard of the bike in tree many years ago and always wanted to go see it, rumor has it that in the early 50's some kid left his bike next to a tree and forgot about it. The bike referenced in the christmas book " Red Ranger Came Calling " by Berkeley Breathed, check it out it's a good read. I don't make it onto the island that much and heard it isn't easy to find, Then I heard it had been vandalized and figured it was a lost cause, I happened to be riding my scooter around the island and decided to try to find it, I ended getting directions from a cab driver.and when I finally saw it I was surprised to find most of it still there, the handlebars are missing but it is still very recognizable as a Bike in a tree, Featured on Snopes - liveleaks - Urban legends

What, did someone steal the handle bars? If so that kind of thing makes me steam.

Where's the grip?

I remember hearing the story of this as a kid lol

That's the bike of soldier that left to war in 1914. He chained his bike to the tree...but he never returned. The family left the bike in memory of him. That bike is now part with the tree.

Someone hung this bike on a branch of the tree, that is why it is so high in the tree.

When I visited one of the handles fell on my head... If you've ever stepped on a LEGO brick you know my pain. Just multiply that by 20.

we should X-ray the tree, just to make sure that the kid isn't still on bike!
