Objective: to understand how gyroscopic procession works. Materials Needed: ~ Bike ~ Wrench ~ Rope ~ Adult (younger scientists) Step 1) Remove the front tire of your bike using the wrench, only do this if you are able to re install the bike tire. Step 2) Tie some rope to a bike tires axle making sure to double knot the rope and that its tights. Tie the other end of the rope to one of those potted plant holder again double knotting the rope. Step 3) Holding the axle so the tire is straight up and down give the wheel a spin. HOW DOES IT WORK: To understand why this happens you have to understand momentum. When we give a ball a push that ball moves in the direction of the push. How-ever with rotating bodies, the momentum isn't in the direction of the force but instead the momentum pushes out at a right angle. When we apply a force to the a rotating object such as a force vertical on the tire, the tire momentum is released through the axis of the tire. The axis of the tire pushes back on the tire at a right angle keeping the tire spinning vertically.. The reason the tire rotates around the rope is because the rope is pulling vertically on the axis, since the axis will push back at a right angle, the tire rotates around the the torque point or the point where the rope is attached to the axis of the bike tire. With out angular momentum air planes wouldn't be able to fly on autopilot, your bike wouldn't stay up and your helicopter bodies would spin out of a control. !!!GYROSCOPE BIKE WHEEL" (Gyroscopic Precession & Physics) SCIENCE "science experiments" "cool science experiments" "science fair projects" "science experiments for children" "science fair project ideas" "science experiments gone wrong" "science tricks" "science experiments for school" "science fair projects for school" "science experiments to do at home" "science experiments you can do at home" "science experiments explosions" "science experiments cool" "science experiments at home" "science experiments easy" !!!GYROSCOPE BIKE WHEEL" (Gyroscopic Precession & Physics) SCIENCE

How many times can you say science without using it? The angular momentum doesn't keep a bike upright, and in fact, is something that is designed around. Try riding a ski bike, a much easier to handle single track vehicle.

What's taking so long?!

No offence.. but whatever u said made lil or no sense whatsoever :P.. but besides the explanation.. everything else was crazy mad and funny :D kudos!

this guy gets all the bitches

All his videos got removed by google so he had to reupload them all unfortunately. It's to do with very, very strict copyright rules

Awsome!

I like gyroscopes :) They act weirdly when spun

Crazy Chris . Thank You For Making Science Fun .I let my now 12 year old Nephew Watch Your channel the Last few Years and He likes your Channel . I Think Your Channel SocoolScienceshow is A lot more Fun than Mr. Wizard aka Don Herbert ( RIP 1917 - 2007 ) Mr Wizard was kewel in a weird old school way . Keep up the Good Work ! And keeping the Youth of Tomorrow Interested in Science . Science you can Do At Home ! That's Why Science Is So Kool !
