Changing the internal tank fuel filter on a BMW K1100LT, same procedure applies to all K 'Brick' engined bikes.

You forgot one important point. The direction of the filter. Note the direction of the arrow on the filter is towards the end that attaches to the pipe going to the injectors (the first hose that was removed).

How safe would it be to say or ask the similarity of this K1100 and a K1200R? Fuel system, meaning. My K1200R had the fuel rail sensor replaced and the hose which was dried out and harness.
Right now, it won't start. I can hear the unit turn on and then there is fuel in the tank, but it just sputters. -
if stainless steel screws are used in aluminum ...they will disolve due to chemical reaction btwn stainless and aluminum being disimiliar metals....Not Adviced....!...

hmm thanks so much for that.I've just bought an old girl like this, and the sound when u turn the ignition on at 5:53, i get this sound, and when i start the egnine I can hear this all the time. Is this normal? I almost bought a new fuel pump because of that...In fact i thought that this fuel filter is actually a pump :)

I replaced my fuel cap screws with top quality stainless ones and that sorted any corrosion, actually i replaced 99% of the bolts/screws with S/S as BMW for some reason like to leave them out 8-) nice coloured bike too ( i had a blue one and 2 burgundy + a black un )

Thanks for your work!

Sorry I didn't reply before, just noticed this. Theres no easy answer unfortunately, it could be water ingress into numerous parts, theres the CDI and all the associated gubbins under the seat, check the contacts are clean, an old toothbrush is good for that. I take it that the dash lights up and it does start, it's just reluctant? I'd start by giving it a full service and inspecting each component as you go, leads to coils and plugs especially. Hope this helps.

You're welcome, glad it helped.

Hi and thank you for the tutorial, and for disregarding the cynical smart-asses like G.A. well done! Iwould not have known how to do it!

Continuing the above........... if you place a long stick / scredriver etc on to the top end / bottom end or wherever relevant with the engine running, idling, r place your ear directly onto the handle / top of stick and you'll hear exactly where the noise is coming from, often what sounds like a big end knock will turn out to coming from somewhere else entirely, fingers crossed yours is OK, these engines are normally solid.
-
Thanks, glad it's useful. not entirely sure re the noise, (camcorder sound is never the same as real as the mic sensitivity picks some frequencies up better than others), listened to it a couple of times and the noise on mine is where I had a slight blow on one of the points where the downpipes join the collector link pipe, (a common place for them to crack), I had a stainless remus system to fit still. You can pinpoint the noise on your own with a sounding stick, a long screwdriver works well.

Nicely done for those of us who are new to fixing our own bikes. I have something loose in the tank. Will investigate tomorrow. One thing,.....whennyou start her up, there is that knocking noise. I have thismon my 1100. What the hell is it? Sounds like a big end going. Any ideas? Cheers

Thankyou for your immensely useful and helpful feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed this short presentation and I shall watch some of your uploads for future inspiration! Oh, hang on, thats right, YOU DON'T HAVE ANY contributions! Maybe I should say, 'if you spend less time with unecessary critique you could create and upload useful content to your channel instead!' ;)

You could cut this video to two minutes if you actually showed the filter swap and not talk so much.
