Are you sure yours is not an X7? The X9 shows a Rockshox Bluto fork, and the top and down tubes are gusseted together at the steer tube, which is tapered on the X9. It wouldn't be fair to review the X7 as an X9.

just saw your video...not sure if you still have this bike, but do you think this bike this will hold up for a guy like me? 6 ft. 1in. 280 pounds? I'm overweight, but looking at this bike for exercise.

buy a complete bike w/ parts u don't need to instantly *upgrade. = cheaper & a higher quality.
That's why I have a Blizzard -30 being delivered. - $2200 retail, less pedals For me, the -10 model is too low of a spec, but it's still good @ $1300 Can. -
I recently got my X9. The tires are junk but the rest of the bike is solid out of the box. The brakes will be just fine once they are bedded in.
-
If all you can do is complain about the bike, why didn't you buy the bike you want, dumb was. And blow your nose.
-
Nice bike...can you tell me what type of stem and bar you upgraded to? Thinking about doing some upgrades to the X7.

I ordered a Motobecane Boris X7 last week from BikesDirect.com. It was delivered 6 days later. What a beautiful machine it is!!

I like your bike. I am waiting patiently for my Boris the Brute. Can you tell me what brand your pedals are and where you got them? I will be needing some for my new bike and those look sweet.

I just got a Boris X7 in seafoam and it's outstanding. I'm a cat 1 mountain bike racer, and am planning on riding this all winter for training. The bike needs nothing, why upgrade parts on a non-race, 35lb+ bike? Even the crank is decent. The cable brakes are more than fine, I don't know what you're talking about. Don't get hydraulics if you're going to ride this in cold or snow- less upkeep, no freezing fluids. I ride SPD's with it, so far, so good. Trails, road, paths, fields, woods, whatever. For anyone reading, I'm 5' 9" with long legs and with the stock 350 seatpost I couldn't get the saddle high enough on the 17". I bought a 410mm post and now I'm good. Otherwise fit is great, glad I didn't go up in size (I race a large (18.5") cannondale F29). I'm going to ride now in the snow!

BikesDirect is the way to go if you know a bit about bikes(like what you want and size and basic maintenance) and want much more bike than you can afford.
I got the Moto Fly Ti 29er with XTR for $2500 CAN in total plus I have added upgrades of course. But for that money, I would be lucky to get a equally equipped aluminum framed bike let alone ti. The ONLY issue I have had is the seat tube is a hair too big so the seat slides way too easily but gets locked up fine. I can live with that for the ride quality! Obviously, this is intended to be a race XC bike. After crashing bad and dinging the front wheel bad, I chose to get a mutt upgrade. Rear , I got the Formula Volo XC which is Scandium with quite a deep V and low 24 spoke count. Its less than 900g but rated for light AM use while I went with a Hope Crest combo front as the front doesn't usually get the abuse. These wheels and trail oriented tires and it has become an awesome trail machine. I am not that heavy , nor do I do crazy drops but I definitely go beyond strict XC.
It just makes trail riding that much more fun when the bike is light. Going up isn't a struggle which,to me, is half of mountain biking. Going down or fast is a hoot as its just so flickable. I can pop off air on small mounds while going down washed out trails with multiple smaller drops I almost float over by just leaning back a bit, as opposed to slowing down and going thud thud thud all the way down on some lead sled. The ti really does smooth out the ride. No jarring thuds, you feel drops , they just aren;t harsh. -
Just Ordered my X7... Can't wait to show it off out here in San Diego!!!

BD do ship to as far as Singapore.

The issue with your brakes is just a bedding in period. You need to do a few hours riding with plenty of moderate braking to get them to bed in. Avid cable disc's are a pain to set up but are really quite good once they are there.
-
This looks quite good as a bike, especially for the price, but first thing I would do is give that a new paintjob, that glossy black is so hideous. Even matte black rattlecan would look much better.
-
do they ship overseas ?.
-
How's it handle on roads..?
-
I'd love to strap one of them 80cc motor kits to it tho. That'd be fun!

It's nice! I like it man. The guy at the LBS said fat bikes are hitting hard back east and it's only a matter of time until I'll be seeing them every where on the west coast. (They had a demo one set up there in the shop as the exclusive only one they had. They wanted $2,100 for it or $75 to rent it for 24 hrs) Maybe I might post a vid of it If I still have it on my phone.

these bikes are at such a low price it doesnt even make sense x9/x7 components with x5 crankset sub 30 lbs shipped to your door for 800 no taxes free shipping...

I was flipping pages through magazine call “Mountain Bike action” and noticed that a fatbike looked like the X9, but it’s called KHS 4 Season and their price ranges from 1499-1899.Not sure why this is? But the Boris X9 so much cheaper than the KHS, anyone would be crazy to get the KHS if they know about the Boris X9.
