Enduro and motocross is tough on motorcycles, so it's important to make sure that your dirt bike has been properly maintained. You should be current on all maintenance, including chain lube and oil changes. It's also good to make sure that none of the seals on your dirt bike are leaking, as these leaks can cause bigger problems for you on the trails. Motocross racing is a very tough sport...and one that I'm not very good at. A motocross course will generally consist of jumps, tight turns, "whoops" or "whoopie doos" in tight succession, and patches of sand. These courses are an entirely different style of racing, and can challenge even an experienced rider. Enduro, on the other hand, requires excellent balance and coordination. It also requires a good, strong knowledge of your machine, and a willingness to fall down. These different challenges will push your technical riding skills to the edge, and will require you to push yourself to new comfort levels. If you're looking to get into offroading, either endurocross or moto, and off road park is an excellent place to do this. These offroad parks will provide a good mix of terrain, and also are generally well-populated and have some facilities on site. This will give you a very controlled environment to hone your new skills, and a large density of obstacles of all difficulties to challenge yourself on. Offroad parks also offer the advantage of being closer to town, and can act as a "proving ground" for your dirt bike before you take it out on the trails.
