Brompton Light Up Concept Bike

Brompton Bicycle has partnered with Darkside Scientific to produce a concept light up bike which uses the world's first sprayable electroluminescent coating - introducing a night time visibility feature that combines aesthetics with function. There is no planned production date at this stage, but the aim is to release the bike within 18 months.

My jaw has been dropped! But left with a million questions. Is there a retrofit for existing Bromptons? Costs? Can it be for the whole frame & the forks? Questions are abound!!

So long as they have sorted out the basic quality issues that dog this bike that left me with a £1800 bad taste in the mouth... This is OK

Aesthetically the beginnings of a great look. Functionally though I'd want to see the majority of the main frame glowing.

That looks Brilliant, pun intended. Just one thing, where do I put the as yet unused Brompton Tool kit, if that area is going to be used for the battery. This will go well with my Magnic IC bike lights.

Very interesting. If it's just a coating, would this mean the underlying frame is unchanged and therefore as indestructible as it currently is? Also, could it not be applied to more areas of the bike to make it yet more visible?

Looks very cool, but I'm not sure how much safer it would be. Maybe a light up seat post would be more useful? Aesthetically, I'm sold.
