Interesting video. Here in northeast PA, we don't have a lot of issues with cars and cyclists sharing the road too often. Frankly, our roads are so poor here, you'd have to have your head checked if you rode in anything less than a tank. We have a much bigger issue with pedestrians hitting cars. Yes, you read that right . . pedestrians hitting cars.
When I DO see a cyclist, it seems like cars and rider share the road nicely. I always hold my breath though, because as I said the roads here are awful, and you can never tell when a pothole or debris may take a rider by surprise. Plus, car mostly park on the roads here, so cyclists have to pay real attention to side-view mirrors. Still, I think vehicles share the road nicely.
My biggest wish with ALL drivers and riders is to pay attention to stop signs, stop lights and yield signs. -
Two things: 1) I've personally been stopped by a cop while riding my bicycle and listening to ear buds in both ears. 2) Bicyclists (and motorcyclists, too) should not expect protection from the law if they don't/won't obey the law themselves. I see bicyclists run stop signs ALL the time, without even slowing or checking for cross traffic. These idiots are just fatality statistics just waiting to happen. (Oh, sure, these idiots help thin the herd, but still...)
