It doesn't get stuck in traffic, it doesn't have a loud engine, and it's easy to park. It's the iBullitt -- an electric-powered cargo bike. The Ibullitt is built by the Berlin company Urban-e -- and costs just under €4,000. Read more: http://www.dw.de/program/made-in-germany/s-3066-9798

The focus on "Quality of Life" issues are important for attracting talented employees to live and work in cities and town. More needs to be done to improve the Quality of Life. While we have the start of a great walking and bicycle trail system more needs to be done to provide connections to homes, businesses and schools. Bike to work day should be everyday..... employers need to provide places to park and lock bicycles and encourage employees to ride a bicycle to work. Participating in the annual BIKE TO WORK day program would be a great way to start.
Every school should encourage children to walk to school or ride a bicycle by providing safe places to lock and store bicycles and by supporting safe walking and biking paths that connect schools, homes and businesses. Kids would be healthier and get more exercise if parents stop driving them to school and bought them a bicycle. It is sad to see the local schools and University campuses with so few bicycles on them. Again there is an annual BIke to School day that more schools need to participate in.
More police should be on bicycles and not in police cars. They would talk to more people and be more in touch with the community. They would also be in better shape. By doing this cities would also learn what they need to do to make their city more bicycle friendly and encourage more people to get out of their cars and on to a bicycle. By being outside on a bicycle rather than in a car people would have more opportunity to talk with their neighbors. It is also amazing what you notice on a bicycle that you do not notice when you are in a car.
While bicycles are only one aspect of Quality of Life issues it represents a way to reduce pollution, provide a healthy activity for riders and might just free up some space time for parents that would no longer have to drive their children everywhere they go. Obesity is an epidemic in this country. If employers want to reduce their health care costs they should encourage employees to participate in more healthy calorie burning activities.
By promoting bicycle use and connecting trails more people would be out on the streets with eyes on their community making them safer places to work and play.
I would much prefer to live and work in a community where people are out on bicycles, enjoying the scenery and commuting in an environmentally friendly way. Local business could do much more to help make that happen. -

I wouldn't be turned off if my interior designer showed up in a bike.....all I need to see is the guy's website and what work he's done and then poof! I hire him because of what he's designed...not what ride he shows up in.

Doing things in the old ways is not sustainable nor affordable. This guy thought outside of the box allowing him and his clients to benefit.

Such limited thinking clients aren't the way to grow anyway. I am glad he stuck with it because things like this are the future.
