CBT Motorcycle Training - The U - Turn
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
Demonstrating a U - Turn performed on a Honda CBF 125 machine. I cover the major aspects involving clutch, throttle and rear brake control and any do's and don't's that I feel are applicable to the U - Turn.

Thanks for this mate. Today I failed to egt through my CBT as I couldn't do a U turn or turn right safely enough. Everything else was fine so I'm going back to practice loads of right hand turns. This was a really helpful video.

I have been perfecting this clutch-throttle-rear brake technique for over 2 weeks now. I can hardly express my gratitude for this instruction as it has absolutely moved my riding skills from 0 to confident ones. I can do smooth 8 and u-tuns and much more. Thank you so much.
-
And I have done it, YEAH! Excellent instructions! Thanks so much!

Great vid. I also have CBR Honda 125 and have to pass M2 test so I will be doing a lot of this exercise. Thx for the lesson :)

great video mate. I have the Honda cbf 125 and it's a great starter bike Imo.
Looking forward to passing my full test over the next couple of years, but for now I'm more than happy with my 125.
shame about the crappy L plates, but the law is the law :)
keep up the good work mate, you got yourself another sub -
Thanks really appreciate it

Your bike is soo fucking sexy :p

Firstly, when you brake it is important that you thumb is in the proper position, i.e. under the bottom of the grip, this take the forward force pushed forward when braking. should your thumb be on top, where you have it placed, your hand would simply fly forward past the grip and you would loose total control. Should your CBT instructor be assessed by the DSA and not pick up on the "thumb" position, he/she would certainly be given an unsatisfactory assessment report and possibly loose licence
-
Is there at any point in my vid that says somebody should ride that way? I don't think so! Ok, if I'm doing it wrong in this I apologise if people pick up any bad habits, but I've been riding for over 20 years now after passing the CBT and my thumb has never caused me to crash lol

Elkfazer1, You need to get your money back from who ever passed you on your CBT. There is NO WAY you should have your thumb of your left hand on top of the left hand grip.
-
Torso keep straight in line with the bike and turn head left and right 90 degrees, that should be acceptable. The more you show the examiner or instructor that you're paying attention in both directions on the u-turn, the less likely you are to get marked down on observations.
-
The reason not to put the steering into full lock straight away is to allow yourself time to balance before turning it tighter.Any wobbles you may have if on full lock straight away will probably see you put a foot down and then you'd fail the turn.
-
and also where do you look, I know look where you want to go.but I want to uturn, so I cant turn my head 180 degrees like the exorcist so do I look 90 degrees to my right then as I turn first or try and look back as much as I can is my torso facing forwads or turned to the right?
-
Wait a minute so why shouldnt we full lock before taking off i didnt really understand that part? thats what ive been doing for the tricky car park need to get in to

Thanks, I suppose you are using a type of in-helmet headset. I'll look into it one day. I've also been watching your videos about 125ccs as I am looking to buy one soon. Thanks for all the videos!

Thanks for the comment. Yes, a lot of people have asked about the voice recording, but that's done on a separate voice recorder as the sony cam mic isn't accessible with the case attached.
-
Good luck on the CBT mate, but don't try and kill yourself ;-)

Hello elkfazer, I am 20 years old and I am going to complete the CBT and purchase my first motorcycle as soon as possible, and your videos have been very useful to me, so thanks. I read your profile because I wanted to know about your helmet cam, I see it says "Sony HDR-AS15 Action Camera" I just want to ask if this is also what is capturing your voice? I ask because the sound quality is very good, and there is little background noise. Thanks.
-
This is great stuff, elk. I'm hoping to take my CBT as soon as my provisional is through, get a CBR and then probably kill myself on the way to work.
