I am not buying a lock made out of butter

my custom built $1000 bike was stolen today after i locked it, and came back 8 minutes later. The lock was cut and on the floor and my bike was nowhere to be found. It was parked right on 5th avenue, NY

Just bought a kryptonite lock......................great..

I lost two expensive bikes in two weeks I'm ma building secured garage with similar locks don't know the brand. Why the hell are these people allowed to sell garbage locks. they cut one lock and since they tried and did not succeed in cutting the other I wrongly assumed the bike was safe since that lock was thicker. Boy was I wrong. I guess they came back with a better cutter lol. I hate thieves. wish we can shoot them. And not go to jail.

what kind off bolt cutter i need to cut krypto 13inch i lost my key my bicycle lock pls let me know if you can
-
"Kryptonite........... five seconds" lmao

This is the Keeper and NOT the MIni right????
-
as the guy saying in the background, this one is cheap (13mm steal)
-
with these pliers an angle grinder and a truck any lock in the world is breakable. i will make my own brand of lock unpickable made of hardened boron carbonite as thick as a door knob double locked with oil on em thatll make em unbreakable
-
junk locks their about as strong as a car hood holder.
-
city folk must not use tools much.
-
For a joke some one should spot weld a steal bike to post and tape a thief trying to steal it. That would be funny
-
Kryptonite not only makes mostly junk locks but their customer service has also declined to the point of worthless. There have always been better locks than Kryptonite.
Now there is another reason to buy other brands - NO customer Service. Unless you wish to invite theft of your property chose another brand. -
I love cutting thru kids with my knife its like cutting thru butter
-
yup my 500 bike stolen last week. with a mid level kryptonite, garbage shit....i would use a chain or a very thick u lock..otherwise toast..
-
Do that to the Kryptonite chain, you won't be saying, "like butter", you won't even make a dent in that chain. These 2 locks are a joke. Once again, make a vid of you cutting the chain, you'll be saying, fuhgetaboutit!

Agreed. Not all u-locks are created equally. Those KryptoLok (with the gray lock mechanisms) are an invitation to bike thieves to take the bike. And yes, bike thieves do carry (in their pick-up trucks and vans) long handled bolt cutters. Hop out, cut the lock in 10 seconds, throw the bike in the van, and gone. Less than a minute.
Price point is everything in u-locks. Do some due diligence and at least don't skimp on your locks.

those were both cheap lower end locks. get kryptonite's better u locks and they can't be compromised so easy and avoid cables altogether unless they're only being used as a secondary for wheels or seat. I actually employ 3 locks on my bike, overkill perhaps but I REALLY wanna keep mine...

I understand what they are saying but thieves won't be walking around with big ass bolt cutters like that in the daytime. They will have much smaller ones that they can hide. Now if these bikes or any bikes were locked overnight, then I could see this size bolt cutters being used. Anybody locking their bikes like this overnight are just asking for trouble I have read the description and do understand these were abandoned bikes in this case.. My bike stays in my apt at night.
