Cycling in Amsterdam. [HD]

Cycling from Museum square back home again to Het Singel.... Taking a small detour over Damsquare, Damstaat, Nieuwmarkt, Prins Hendrikkade & Singel.. All those busy places! :-) This footage was taken on a Sunday-afternoon. (5th of oct 2014 @15:30hrs) and as you'll see it's quite crowded on the streets... But not really full-on rush-hour yet! Route (for captions later....) 0:12 I-Amsterdam sign, on the museum-square. People really like to climb on this thing for some reason..... 0:30 Going underneath the Rijksmuseum. A much publicly debated bicycle lane during the reconstruction of 'het rijks'. But it was re-opened after all! 1:45 Spiegelgracht. 2:12 Crossing Prinsengracht. 2:20 Nieuwe spiegestraat. 2:35 Kerkstraat. Nice street to ride if you want to avoid traffic on the canals. 3:25 Crossing Leidsestraat. 3:53 Leidsegracht. 4:05 Crossing Keizersgracht. 4:45 Herengracht. 6:26 Entering the first of the 'nine streets'; Gasthuismolensteeg. This is where it gets quite crowded on the streets! 6:38 My 'local pub' on your left; Cafe Het Molentje. Nice place! 6:42 Crossing *het* Singel. (Not *de'* singel folks!) 6:54 Paleisstraat. 7:02 Crossing Spuistraat. This is where all those annoying beer-bikes take off for their binge drinking tours... be aware! 7:14 Royal palace on the Dam (backside) - crossing Nieuwezijds voorburgwal. 7:35 Damsquare on your left. 7:42 Most crowded pedestrian crrossing in town! Kalverstraat (a.k.a. the local shopping gutter) on your right. 7:56 Not a lot of people in front of Madame tussauds at this moment. 8:22 Entering Damstraat.. one of the most congested streets in the city centre here! Tourists on Bike or foot + Locals realy don't mix well here!! :-) Also lots of cars, taxi's vans, pedestrians, etc, etc. Having a very loud bell on your bike is advised here! 8:48 Crossing Oudezijds Voorburgwal. Enter the red light district on your left. 9:00 Crossing Oudezijds Achterburgwal. 9:29 Kloveniersburgwal. 9:50 Nieuwmarkt. Has a nice Sunday food market, expensive though! 10:20 Geldersekade. Nice example of a proper dutch asphalt bike-lane. 11:25 Prins Hendrikkade. Looking toward Central Station. 11:54 Nice separation of traffic... Prevents a *lot* of bike-bike or car-bike accidents! 12:22 Corner Damrak / Pr. Hendrikkade. (Traffic madness starts here!) 12:48 The crowd crossing here is going to / coming from the Central train station.. Most pedestrians here have no clue this is a bicycle lane... 13:00 Touring-cars full of tourists are unloaded here every few minutes.. So they painted all those small bike icons on the bike lane. 13:15 Crossing Nieuwezijds voorburgwal again. 14:07 Beginning of het Singel. 14:26 The Haarlemmerstraat on your right. This is a nice street for shopping! (Unlike Kalverstaat...) 14:39 Brouwersgracht on your right.. One of the most beautiful canals in the Centre. 15:57 Multatulli bridge and statue on your left. For some reason.... Very popular among Finnish teenagers! :-) 16:31 Crossing Raadhuisstraat. The dam-palace on your left again. 17:20 Back Home again. Shot with a Sony HDR-AS30V action cam. I really love the built-in Image Stabilisation! Cam mounted on my bicycle helmet, I guess I was the only Dutch cyclist wearing one that day! :-)
