Cycling in the snow - Copenhagen
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
When winther hit Denmark in 2010, the roads got covered in snow and temperatures went below zero in Copenhagen. As the first bike city in the world, we went out on the streets to see if the Copenhageners still use their bikes despite the snowy weather. Surprisingly also the danes outside Copenhagen bikes very often. And many roads have tracks for biking along the side of the road. Even in Jutland.

Pretty impressive.

cycling is the best

I'm in Denmark, but love biking in Arizona no humidity and no snow. :)

Hey! It seems everyone knows English..I used to think that only Danish is spoken in Denmark! Impressive! :)

As a Norwegian I can laugh at them saying it's difficult to ride a bicycle when it's barely snowing.:P
PS: Sadly they put too much salt on the roads which can fuck a bike up badly. -

Around what month is this?

The Copenhagen municipalities(?) are actually quite diligent in clearing the snow, I've found.
The first snowflake has bare touched down on the bicycle path, and already an army of motorised snowplows are leaving their garages and going about their duties to clear and salt the roads before the morning rush begins.
You really tend to appreciate that. -
I thought her microphone was a christmas tree.

This is awesome! I've biked through winter before (I live in southern Ontario) & am not afraid to do it again!

Well me my self is a brick layer. And normaly have something between 30-40 km to work. I'll do it every day and don't thing bricklaying is easy. It's because we ride our bikes all life so our body is use to it. Saying something about public health, right? -
that was europian mind! i think it so progressive solution) our planet says " Thanks for freedom of movement!"
But, movement over 20 minutes to you work - will be so hard =) or if you have hard work... how can i work when i can't stay on my foots? 10 hours on the factory... and after hard work you must come back... -
:52 here in the the whole of the USA that sweeper would be sweeping the snow / ice on to the pavement and not in to the roads.
-
love this! and the music too.

i'm from Denmark, and i live in Copenhagen

Already getting my bike prepped for the winter season : ) I'm contemplating installing a coffee thermos holder, heated seat and make some sort of blankety poncho type thing since I'll be riding that thing for 10 km most days. It's gonna be cold.
-
Not really. I am not sure about Danemark, but in Sweden babies are put outside to sleep during the day, even on -5 C degrees. I am not saying that one should not ride a bike. On contrary. It is very good for overall health, saves money, less pollution... But Rheumatism is the downside of riding a bike during a cold weather. Especially the knees are sensitive.
