Road bicycles have a UCI legal limit of 6.8kg yet not many professional riders actually ride carbon bikes this light. Why? Cos it doesnt really matter that much thats why. What matters more than bicycle weight is BICYCLE FIT. Mark your carbon seat post or alloy seat post with a white out pen so you have a reference point incase anything slips. Do the same with handlebar angle, seat angle, seat fore/aft and cleat positioning. This little cycling tip can save you a LOT of trouble. :) Specialized, Giant, Trek, Colnago, Cannondale, Felt are large carbon bicycle companies that are pushing for lighter and lighter carbon frames. The new Cannondale Super Six EVO has a claimed weight of 795grams. How durable is that? Time will tell. Alloy parts are much stronger. Carbon bicycle parts break from impact very easily. Ive seen HEAPS of broken carbon stems, bars, frames, forks, seats, bars and seat posts. Even Lance Armstrong used alloy bars and stems for all his 7 Tour De France victories. Sleep, water, sugar sufficiency must be the daily focus. Sun + sport must be the weekly focus.
