This is so right! I always want to say that why do we need a fucking helmet for city bike riders? we are not doing extreme sports in a day to day commute riding. Helmet 100% doesn't protect you at all, if cyclist hit by car, just simply die, helmet doesn't do anything. if cyclists hit each other, just falling on the ground, also helmet doesn't protect you. the major injuries happen on cyclist are on knees, elbows, wrists, not on head.

nobody is wearing a helmet.if you drive like that in greece you will propably end up at a hospital or even worse..at least for the kids it must be illegal traveling with a bike without helmets.keep them safe..nice vid though

See that poverty in the Netherlands, no money for helmets. That poor Babies ....

Just cannot understand why they don't wear helmets and its horrible that the children don't have helmets. Its not if its when they will crash and those innocent children will have concussions or TBI. So sad to see this. Horrible!

once in Hong Kong police stopped me because a had my wife sitting on the baggage rack of the bike. he said it was not allowed, I laughed and really thought he was joking. but it really wasn't allowed...

Stats show getting into a bath, climbing a ladder or even driving a car are more dangerous that utility cycling. This is the case wherever we go, so it's not about people's skills it's about whether people are prepared to fight and demonstrate against big business, the car and oil industry as the Dutch did. The Dutch ensured motorised vehicles are presumed to be liable and people have freedom to ride in a city without fear of being menaced by a motorised vehicle. Live and let live. 😀

Riding a bike is fun and good exercise.........walking, bicycles and mass transit will all be part of making cities livable.
Ride to school.........ride to work.........ride for fun...........
Bike to work day should be everyday..... employers needs to provide places to park and lock bicycles and encourage employees to ride a bicycle to work. Children should be riding a bike to school instead of being dropped off by their parents. Cities need to do more to provide safe walking and biking trails and paths that connect homes, schools and businesses. Speak up and ask for more bicycle paths in your community. Obesity is a growing problem around the world leading to an increase in heart disease, cancer and high blood pressure. Walking and biking can help improve health. -
Hasn't anybody in the Netherlands heard of Xtracycle? You would think that with a culture so bike dependent as they are Xtracycles would be every where you look especially hauling toddlers around.
One mom, two kids, four bags of groceries, no car https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-C5xtSpsVKg -
Utrecht, such a nice city :)

wish we could ride bikes in the US with out helmets. I won't ride without one because my husband been hit twice (car door opening and the other car turning and cutting him off) I would love to ride with my kids around like they do in NL but car drivers are so AGGRESSIVE here. why can't we learn from others?!?

Goddam, I'm from Bucharest and all this seems to be from another planet. Here, where I live, people would kill you if you tried to make their driving life more difficult. They'd kill you for a parking space, too. :) We have 2.000.000 cars in a 2.000.000 people city. A car for every person...

Imagine these parents cycling with their babies and toddlers racing thru traffic with a phone planted in their face.

I looooovvvveee the Dutch people and their culture
-
This is so funny i always racing with random people on bikes when the light turns green XD

As a Dutchman, it's really interesting to realize my everyday experience is actually not that common. I can't imagine needing a car to get somewhere and don't think about biking one handed while calling with a toddler through rush hour is dangerous at all. And biking with a helmet? Who the hell does that? Great videos!
