Cycling without age | Ole Kassow | TEDxCopenhagenSalon
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. After having heard several stories about the older generation missing the freedom, the joy and the mobility of cycling, Ole asked himself: "How can we get these people back on the bicycles?" Ole decided to show up at his local nursing home with a rented rickshaw. This changed his life - and the lives of the passengers and the volunteers who came across Ole and his project, "Cycling Without Age". Ole Kassow is the founder of “Cycling Without Age” - http://cyclingwithoutage.org - an initiative which gives senior citizens the opportunity to get out of nursing homes and experience the city and the nature by rickshaw. Because of Ole, municipalities in several cities across Denmark have now bought rickshaws for their nursing homes and a network of volunteers offer residents the opportunity to venture outside and feel the wind in their hair. This meeting of generations provides a unique opportunity for the elderly to share their stories and experiences, which are often triggered by these trips out into the local environment. This initiative not only strengthens communities across generations, but it contributes to both physical and mental well-being of the elderly and volunteers, thus giving nursing homes and municipalities a golden opportunity to stimulate and promote health and mobility. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

This is a beautiful story lucky ur not in the UK cos it would have ended on ur first trip to the retirement home here. Health & Safety would NEVER have allowed u to take anyone. A care home near my house has a church that my mother visits. She used to go & visit the elderly every day for years chatting. But was stopped recently because of H&S. Heartless basteds!

I can't drive due to a medical issue and there's a HUGE difference between wanting to ride a bicycle and HAVING to ride a bicycle.
over the years I've challenged at least a Hundred people to ride to work and everywhere, errands, grocer etc. for at least 1 week 7 days and every - EVERY answer was the same " well I can't do that" my answer was well guess what I can't either but I HAVE to
so when I see these half ass lame vids of bike riding for he public and what a joy it is to ride like a kid again on the weekends.
try riding every fucking day for 15 years THEN make a video about bike riding. I hated a bicycle so much a few times I almost poured gas on it and light it up. -
You are just AMAZING ! ! well done , , from South Australia .

One of the most touching things that I've ever heard...
From EGYPT with love :)) -
Wouldn't ebikes or e-trikes with three wheels enable the seniors to be more active than sitting in a rickshaw why someone else pedals? Thank you.

Im having a hard time finding the rickshaws themselves. The ones where the passengers sit in front. What manufacturer are you using? Is there a usa importer?
