the Niner has horrible weld joints, department store grade. Not nice and smooth following the contour of the tube.

What are your thoughts, between carbon/steel/aluminum, if you had to get one bike, for race and gravel grind?
-
Thank you for this video. Before I watched it, I thought gravel grinder and cyclocross were the same thing.
-
shorter wheel base more agile, longer, better high speed stability.

great video! informative and concise

Which tires would you use for riding your gravel bike on rooty, sugar-sandy singletrack? I have 700x40mm G-Ones on my Diamondback Haanjo Comp Carbon and have done mixed surface rides with great results. Will try some singletrack next, just not sure about the tires. Alternatively, I can mount 650B wheels with MTB tires up to 2.1" wide. Your thoughts?

Great video! I bought a 2012 Cannondale CAADX 5 for commuting because at the time CX bikes were recommended for commuting. The most important thing to remember is test ride everything. The best bike made is what fits your purposes.

Hi. I m on the market for a new bike and I like the idea of gravel bike or cross. I have a road bike but we want to put some gravel in the rides. think something like 100 km rides with 30 km of gravel in them.
So I was thinking something like the tcx advanced sx or even a steel bike like the new upcoming richey outback. have you got any suggestions or tips? thanks! -
Awesome video. Well done.
-
any input on the 2017 gianttcx advanced sx?

Guys, we don't have to justify having more than one bike to each other.....only to our partners. The only difference between those bikes is the colour

I dont know where to buy niner RLT9 in Japan!!!

Zdenek Stybar raced and won in UCI road and stage race events on his 'cross frame with a road setup: Larger crankset and upper-end road wheelsets. Better quality 'cross bikes typically have more capability and multi-functionality. Things to consider if you cannot get both styles of "cicli."

great video ;)

Thanks for the video's and the time you obviously spend on them. Your passion is apparent.
For those of us who can't justify a bike fleet, it's a bit of analysis paralysis trying to get just the "right" bike. But as many suggest, find what fits I guess. I sold a nice carbon road bike a few years back when I got out of triathlons and into the MTB scene... but pretty much over that now.
What I really enjoy is riding some chat (small gravel) and some single dirt track (fairly hilly) near my home but there's also a LOT of road between my house and the trails. And huffing it there and back on a Salsa Spearfish isn't ideal. Plus, I'd like to get back into some sprint triathlon's this next year so trying to decided on xc or gravel. Looking at Raleigh Willard 2, Niner RLT9 (aluminium) or possibly Fuji's tread or new Jari. Like the Giant's also, trying to stay away from Specialized.
So trying to determine if a xc bike with double on the front would be better for that use case as I will most likely NOT be doing 1) any xc races, or 2) long 6 hour gravel road rides. -
Coming from road endurance riding I lean towards the Gravel Grinder Niner but a steel frame one.
Own a Cannondale Super X cross bike and Yes is fast as heack but too twitchy and rides too temperamental and keeps asking for riders inputs all the darn time for my taste of riding. I just think is perfectly made for cross racing and little else!
