Why do throw a wrench in between chain and sprocket? Why tension?
-
Worst case scenario from a too-tight chain isn't a snapped chain, it's a fucked countershaft.
-
hey would a clicking coming from the front spocket whilst riding and only when leaning to the right be an indication on a loose chain.
-
Put a wrench in there if you want to chew up your ally sprocket!

this guy is a mechanical guru...!!

Hey how many fingers if the bike is on it's own weight?

So we can't get a more precise measure for chain slack than 3 stubby fingers?

Hey, maybe you can help me out. I took out the accelerator to give it a regular maintainance and a clean, however I bought the bike second hand and when I opened it up, there was this silver sticky stuff, almost felt like clay and it certanly smelt like it, can you tell me if this is normal or should I take it to a professional? It's a Honda CRF230 Model 2014 by the way and Thank you in advance

I use Chain Wax on my little dual sport if I'm doing a lot of on-road riding. It's good stuff. I have 2 cans sitting on the shelf....however, if I know that I will be riding in a lot of sand, then I use a product that Honda exclusively recommends for their jet skis, since it doesn't collect ANY sand on the chain & sprocket (Chain Wax will collect SOME).
It's marine-grade CRC 6-56. I believe it's silicone-based, since it's also safe for high-heat applications & electrical systems (unlike WD-40). The CRC 6-56 will EASILY clean all grime off the chain by just spraying on & wiping off with a rag. Then spin the chain & spray on a layer for lubrication....It's really an "All-in-1" product. Other bike shops carry it, I don't know why BikeBandit doesn't. -
thanks for the info, :)

When I am adjusting the length of the swing arm should I go to a certain number like 8 mm or just go until it seems right? "Three fingers under the chain" I'm on a cr125 if that helps. ??
