Winter near Innsbruck in Tirol, Austria is not just for skiing anymore. Winter Freeride Mountain Biking is possible all over and Markus "Appi" Apperle from appi.at shows off how it is done. Skiing simply isn't fun on ice. What about a thin snowpack with rocks, dirt, and plants to rip you edge right out? Even an interpretation of Snowbiking like the Sledge Hammer struggles in those conditions. These are the things a freeride mountain bike with studded tires was meant for. All of a sudden, these conditions become pure fun. The bikes also have a nice simple bonus as seen at the end of the video. How's braking on these tires ? i want to get my own pair and want to know if it's worth it all they way safety-wise cause there are a lot of people at the resort where i live :D

I say put a rubber ski (from like a old 120cc snowmobile) on the front of the bike, you would FLY.
