There are nine million bicycles in Beijing That's a fact, It's a thing we can't deny Like the fact that I will love you till I die. We are twelve billion light years from the edge, That's a guess, No-one can ever say it's true But I know that I will always be with you. I'm warmed by the fire of your love everyday So don't call me a liar, Just believe everything that I say There are six BILLION people in the world More or less and it makes me feel quite small But you're the one I love the most of all We're high on the wire With the world in our sight And I'll never tire, Of the love that you give me every night There are nine million bicycles in Beijing That's a Fact, it's a thing we can't deny Like the fact that I will love you till I die Duncan's Divas is the latest covers project of Duncan Redmonds (Snuff, Guns N Wankers, Billy no Mates,The Toy Dolls). In 2007 Duncan recorded "Sticks up girls" the title taken from an old "St Trinians" film. The album contained half Japanese and half western cover versions. Recorded by Duncan and Nick Philpin over the summer in NW London(tea by Colin) it includes appearances from Frankie from Leatherface, Olga from the Toy dolls, Wes from One Car Pile Up/Billy No Mates UK, Steve from Vanilla Pod/Billy No mates UK, Horrie from Billy No mates Japan/Cornelius etc, Kev from Apollo 440 and Dave from Snuff. The idea for the project came about during a conversation with Bruce at CR Japan/Inya Face. Whilst waiting for two other projects to be finished Bruce suggested a covers album. There were a few covers ready to go and it happened that they were all by female artists so it was decided to make that the theme of the band. Seeing as it was an all girl affair it was decided to add some female voices. So in came Kiria, Jenny, Louise and Yukie(aka Kira). There then followed the idea to tour it with a Japanese girl band. In came Haruna Nao and Enapou for the 2007 tour. Five rehearsals and 17 songs later they were onstage at the 251 in Shimokitazawa. It was a slightly nervy affair but considering it had come together very quickly it went well with only a few mistakes(Oi Oi) Next came the ACB in Shinjuku. By now the nerves had gone and the atmosphere was great. A good time was had by all. A year and a half later and the second album "Up and at 'em" is finished. Recorded in Tokyo and London with Enapou and Haruna adding guitar and bass on six new Japanese covers including vocals on two tracks. Asuka from Water Closet also put in a fine vocal performance on one track. Sadly Maximum the Hormone was touring Europe at exactly the same time as the recording so Nao couldnt join the session. The western covers include performances from Wes, Steve, Kev, Dave, Jenny and Louise, Sasha Patterson and Kira(Yukie). The 2009 tour included Duncan on drums, members Enapou, Haluna, Horie, new members Chie(from Four get me a nots) on guitar and Chucky(Potshots) on trombone. Plus Asuka from water closet guesting on one song. At the secret show at Game, Shibuya, Nao joined the band onstage and tore it up!!!!!. Although Nao didnt join the whole tour she insists she is still a Diva and will join us again live in the future, hurray!! The album is now on sale. Tally ho!!!!
