eBike Primer: What’s the Difference Between Electric Bike Motors?
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
http://electricbikereview.com/ What are the different types of electric bike motors and how are they different? In short, you have hub motors and mid-drive motors. I find that geared hub motors are light, zippy and affordable but tend to wear out a bit faster due to the moving parts inside and that gearless motors are heavy but smooth and quiet. Mid drive motors offer great balance across the frame and a lower center of gravity but pull on the bicycle chain and thus wear the gears and chain out more quickly. For off-road riding centerdrive systems can be great because they leverage the gears for increased torque.

On the Bafang mid-drive you can add a gear sensor for derailers easy to install. Hope this helps.
