bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
Ebikes were all over Eurobike this year and look to be getting bigger all the time. We took a look at what may be the future of cycling. Follow GCN on YouTube: http://gcn.eu/gcnsubs With more and more manufacturers introducing electric bikes into their line up, and ebikes selling larger quantities, we spoke to Tamara Winograd from Bosch's eBike division about thier motors and how the sector is growing. We also sent Tom out for a spin on a Scott Spark ebike to see what his impressions were. But what do you think, ebikes, good thing or bad thing? i definitely need an ebike coz im not as fit and young as i used to be so this technology will definitely help an old dude like myself.

my friend has an electric bike, uses it to get to work as he cant drive, he has always rode bikes like myself. Yet i think we ride for different reasons, he focused more on the look/type of bike, i focused on performance. So now he rides an e bike to get to work, its a good bit of transport, but that is all it is, to me its taken whats fun about cycling away, to test yourself and get places by your own power and endurance. To me an e biker is transporting themselves, and a cyclist is cycling

Check out my eBike, on my Channel

I've had a Giant ebike for 3 year's. With a few pannier bag's, I find them a practical means of getting around on the daily commute to work wnd from work. Without having to pay for a car.
It has allowed me to enjoy the benefits of cycling once again without having to give it up. When I was unable to do so before. An has helped built my strength back up with the adjustable power setting's. When the battery pack is flat? Charge or use it as a normal bicycle.
Another advantage is that it is classified as either a bicycle or zero emissions vehicle. No road tax! I can bring it with me on long train commutes beyond the ebike's battery life for free. -
You could argue having gears on a non e bike is a form of cheating,I mean when the bike was invented it was single speed right

Dont take the bike home, let the bike take you home.

Cars make you lazy and cost to much! Ebikes needed for everyday use! But a strong service and repair system with parts and conversions needed in areas to be sold most people don't have the skill set to repair or maintain ebike systems and getting help can be a bitch!

Personally, I think the best use of an E-bike systemwould be on a Fatbike. Because they're so big and heavy.

I'm fit and have been riding bikes for a long time. I just recently bought a Stromer electric bike and it is crazy fun how much faster you can go so easily. Even faster than humanly possible. There's nothing wrong with E-bikes. If you wanna call people who buy E bikes lazy, keep complaining. While we have our fun.

Are these E bikes out in the USA as well or not yet?

One thing I noticed early on when I got back in to cycling for commuting and pleasure is that there are a lot of snobs who will trash anyone who doesn't do it their way. Of course these are the same people who pad their shorts instead of their seats in a effort to save weight. Weird.

Recently purchased a secondhand Viking e-go folding electric bike. It works on the pedal assist method whereby when I pedal it assists me with one of three settings low medium or high. 10mph- 13mph -15.5mph or I can turn assist off and cycle as a normal bike. I am in my 40's and wanted a mode of transport for getting to and from work/town and around my neighbourhood that was cost effective without having to pay for fuel insurance tax mot etc. Ebikes fit my needs perfectly and are fun to ride :)

fuck ebikes

To oinky: I have ridden across the US by bicycle, done numerous centuries, and have done cycling tours in France, Italy, and New Zealand. All non-electric of course. I recently built my own ebike using an old mtn bike and I use that to commute. I have done the ride to work many times on a regular bike but the ebike allows me to get home quicker to be with my family. I hope to pretty much stop driving to work. Just my way of doing my part to fight climate change.

This is indeed the future, for biking as a means of transportation. For those who are into the sport, this is a joke.

What's next? Electric powered propeller belts for swimmers?

Have to say I don't get those who say you would have to be lazy to ride an ebike. Really? Do you ride every day to work and make shopping trips on your bike, or do just ride around in big pointless loops while wearing lycra to get exercise? The electrical equivalent of one gallon of gas can charge a typical ebike 100 times. Take a moment to do a thought experiment: what if I got an ebike and drove my car as little as possible?
-
about time ebikes had dual shocks! most ebikes dont have dual shocks, dual shocks are where its at! a real ebike has dual shocks!! nice work bosch!!
-
i like pedaling, i will never even try one of these. there are motorcycles, why put this on a bike... no way this is the future.

if you don't have the fitness or the know-how to ride a trail then maybe you shouldn't ride a trail. Not with a normal bike and neither with an e-bike. It's dangerous.
Now commuting is whole different story. Go ahead, knock yourself out.
