Electric Bicycles in China Documentary
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
This is a short documentary where I went to China to look at the electric bike scene. There is video of the typical electric bicycles seen around China and also of the higher end models made for export. Many pictures and video were taken at the bicycle show "China Cycle 2010". There is also some video of the factories where the electric bikes are produced.

Can you buy a bike online for the US? Is it cheaper?

They have "community bicycles" over there, meaning that there are bicycles free for public use. You just pick one up and ride it, leave it, then the next person is free to use it. Interesting concept.

A few different factories for the motors around Jiangsu/Changzhou. Batteries come from Japanese factory and are put together in a Hong Kong factory.

Hi Claus, It's no problem to have kits come with these specifications. Initially my kits came with the pedal sensor and brake levers but I found they were just potential causes of problems and even a touch dangerous so don't get them anymore. Motor power is controlled much better with a throttle, the throttle is very useful for crossing roads and fine control around certain areas while you never know exactly when the power will engage when using the pedal activation. Cheers

too bad the roads don't make much allowances for bikes in some areas. i'm riding less and less around here, for fear of my life :(

good on you mat, it's so good to see people that have a passion. the 500w kit i bought back in june has been unreal. keep up the good work :)

Yes, of course you can pedal. That's the beauty of an electric bicycle - you actually get a pretty good workout as well - it's a really nice style of exercise too.
