wonderful, wonderful! I just want to go faster, for longer. I like a good system.

We got that here in Germany for ages. Our national railway company has a rental bike system where in certain cities you could park the bike at any street corner and pic one up if you find one. They don't need expensive tablets for that, you just call a number and unlock them or use the provided app. You don't even need a smartphone, a regular mobile phone will do the trick. That's because the system is older than the smartphone era.The only advantage of this bikes is the navigation function, this could be very handy.

So where is the ebike for people who already ride bikes? I ride a road bike on weekends and I'm able to maintain a pretty quick pace for extended periods of time. I don't mind arriving sweaty and out of breath. I just want to go faster, for longer. And be more competitive with cars when I have to.

I would say looking down at a tablet on a bike is a lot safer than looking at your sat nav in a car, or being distracted by passengers nagging in your ear while your driving or many other things people often do while driving their cars.
But back to the bikes, it's odd that a country such as Denmark that has such a love for the bicycle and seems to have embraced the electric bike so much but can't seem to work out that the law on the restricted speed of them is wrong.
15.5 mph does not encourage people to take up electric cycling, it's about time they pushed for the speed to be increased across the EU to 20 mph which would encourage a lot more people in other countries to take up E bikes and dump their car for many shorter journeys.
It's good to see they have acknowledge the Escooter but it's a shame the Escooter still has to be registered as a moped, and would make more sense to give it Ebike status. -
3000 dollar for what the whole bike got 0 suspension... the motor is 250w 36v low AH and speed limited to 25km/h for sure. Why would you pay 3 grand for that ebike.

Perhaps if the police actually started treating bike crime with the seriousness it deserves then we Brits would feel more confident in purchasing such expensive bikes and more people would turn to cycling as a way of getting around. There are CCTV cameras all over my city centre, but non covering the hundreds of bikes at the railway station. Literally tens of thousands of pounds of people's personal property. Crazy.

18 mph woopy doo !!
In the UK (and in the EU in general) we are limited to 250W and 15 mph. Kinda pathetic especially when it comes to climbing hills.
I'm looking for an electric bicycle (pref mountain bike type) that's 750w to 1500w - for off road use of course!
Anyone any recommendations ? Has anyone in UK successfully sourced what I'm describing ? or successfully imported ? -
Seems like a good system but maybe the addition of some form of cover for the the bikes at the docking bays would be prudent. t's a nice sunny day in the article but as we know it often rains.. Many large cities in the UK, indeed many towns too would benefit from these type of bikes. I believe 'Boris Bikes' plan to go electric in 2015 so maybe the e-bike advantage is already in the offing.,
