I think when an electric bike goes beyond £1000 you may as well just buy a 125cc scooter. You can go even further afield in a lot less time.
-
How come you dont show the byke ´´´which worked with a bottle of Hydrogen!!? Just because people didnt had to buy bateries and insted they could produce their own power for free with fune
-
Robert, you really must acquire a motorcycle operator's endorsement! You're missing out on too much fun!
-
Get the Bafang 8Fun mid-drive conversion kit with a minimum 11 AH battery from a reputable supplier and convert your old mountain bike into something pretty bloody awesome. I've been riding one for a year and its amazing. Flattens hills. Destroys the wind. Makes you feel like superman.

love this show

Great episode, but not a great example driving an 80mph bike on the road with no gloves or protective clothing. If he came off, he'd have no skin left.
-
that bike that you need the full license for, why didn't they just have an optional restrictor to make it CBT legal?
-
even if you could recharge by pedalling there's no point... the efficiency would be too low (50% or less of the energy you expend charging would be used by the motor to move the bike), you might aswell just move the bike with a traditional chain drive using your leg power and hub motors don't really create too much drag so even if the battery was dead it would be easier to just pedal it home
-
Brush-less motors require three-phase-AC that is created from a DC-source via Electronic-Speed-controllers. There would have to be software and hardware added to make generation possible.
-
250 Watt hub motor is the legal limit hey? Well there are two hubs ;-)! MORE POWER!
-
Electric bicycles can get upto 4000mpge at 15mph... the "illegal" kits that go 30mph can get 1000mpge at that speed.
-
Completely unrelated to the actual subject matter but I couldn't help but think the guy with the bikes sounded identical to Edgar Wright.
-
HEY, YO$ CLEVIR. SCATTERED TIP WHAT'S YOUR OPINION ABOUT TMIS !
-
Hi Robert.
I smiled when you were so affirmative saying that no bike can be recharged by pedalling because that's a feature of my own electric bike.
Basically, it makes you feel like you are going up a hill when you are cycling on a flat road.
The higher the regen level you choose, the steeper the hill.
Cheers ! I enjoy your show ! -
They should make a ebike that does 30mph that can be ridden on a moped license. This would be great because to get a moped license all you need is a CBT assuming you have a car license already.
-
And when the battery is dead you have to move a 20kg bike, so they are not useful for longer commutes (30 - 40km).
-
E-bikes aren't going to take off until they are a viable means of transportation for commuting - and 15mph isn't viable! Change the law to let these things do 22 mph (no need for the 28mph of a sped pedalec) and it's a game changer. Even with mandatory insurance and (cycling not motorcycle) helmet, they suddenly become viable.
-
Batteries darn expensive
-
he is insulting mopeds, mopeds can go 55mph not 15mph.
-
Hopefully the GIGA battery factory that Elon Musk is building will drive down the cost of batteries.
Batteries are a big part of the cost of motorcycles, cars and bicycles that use them.
Electric transportation is the future........ it is time to end the oil monopoly on transportation fuels.
