Enduro 4 Stroke vs 2 Stroke Part 1

Support us on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/dirtbikechannel The age old debate of 2 stroke vs 4 stroke rages on. In this video, we focus on the off road/enduro riders needs. With so many folks drinking the 4 stroke "cool aid" these days, we attempt to offer some valid reasons why the "big four" bike manufacutures, most popular here in the U.S., may not be equipping us with the best option for technical off road riding. We have taken notice of how dominant the 2 stroke bikes are in the hardest race courses on earth, most of which are staged in Europe. Take a look at the starting lines and podiums of those races and you'll notice the 2 strokes stretch as far as the eye can see. There is a reason for that. 2 strokes are amazing for single track. 2 strokes are amazing for technical, gnarly rides. They have a ton of power down low in the RPM range, pull really hard in the mid RPM range, and scream on the top end! They also don't stall as easily as their high compression 4 stroke bretheren. This is part 1 of a multi part series. The more that I've ridden and tested dirt bikes over the years, the more that one thing has been driven home for me. There is no wrong answer to this debate. Sure, the 2 strokes are more fun for me to ride most of the time. Having said that, the 4 strokes certainly have their advantages in certain situations like on a track (I don't ride tracks, so it really doesn't matter to me). Most of the time in the past couple of years, I've had a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke sitting in my garage. The only time I really get tempted to ride my 4 strokes is when I'm heading out to the desert where the speeds are going to be higher and the whoops are going to be deep. If I know I'm heading to tight, technical singletrack... I'm going to take the 2 stroke for sure. I'm a 2 stroke convert because I have ridden 4 strokes since I was a kid. Back in the day, as a child, the 2 strokes scared me since the power was pretty much all or nothing. The big bore 2 strokes are not like this at all. They have tons of low end and mid range power. They are great. Want to help support Dirt Bike Channel? I loved your opinion! I'm a 2 stroke lover.
And in my opinion a 2 stroke is for you having a looot of fun in offroad and a 4 stroke is the BEST for sunday rides on road and stuff like that.
You say that the 2 stroke don't wear as much as 4 stroke, and now what do you have to say about the twin 350 engine from the Banshee? -
I ride an 85 and I jumped on a crf 150 the 2 stroke has got more kick off the bat and the long run
-
4 stroke are better 2 stroke are for starters

he's over here talking about the loss of traction on the two stroke and I'm just over here thinking about how fast I could be going on 2 stroke compared to a four stroke lol..
-
Where's that techy trail you're riding in this video? looks fun.
-
Its true old 4 strokes last longer my dad had a 1988 500cc xr honda lasted two 2010 until it seized and he had 1988 200 xr honda that only gave in this year but it can still be repaired

Guys I have to ask: are 2 strokes too much power in real tight terrain? I ride 4 strokes because I believe they deliver more torque on the lower end. I don't like the idea of the 2 strokes power sneaking up on me, is that a misconception?
-
my uncle is going to give me his 200cc ktm but I'm jumping from a 125cc ssr is that a good idea?
-
such a fanboy video this makes me laugh... I have personally owned a ktm 300 two stroke and now have a ktm 450 four stroke and prefer the four stroke any day.
