6. campy had the chance to stay on the top of the componentry game years ago but they refused to and still refuse to accept the mountain bike to this day.   Now companies like Shimano and Chris King are making components that are twice as strong and half the weight.  They are the quintessential retro grouches of the entire bicycle community.   To bad they can't make a 185 crankset that could hold up to off road use, they look pretty sexy

8. I sorta knew how a billet of steel was turned into seamless bike tubing, but this documentary actually shows the process being done in a Columbus factory. Incredible!

    I really loved those old eccentric English boys , and that window-idea was a great way of checking frame alignments .
    Such a shame the birthplaces of these machines sort-of disowned their inventions.
    
    The next wave of change is hub powered electric bikes . Check "endless sphere" forums for anybody who might want to find out more, and lots of great youtube vids on various home-assembled machines.
    Can get over 80km travelling distance out of a battery cycle , and travel easily as fast as regular motor-traffic .
    I'm working on putting one together for commuting and thrashing about on when my study life dies down a bit. Excited !

13. honestly one of the coolest bike documentaries/movies I've ever seen. Sad to see this loss of craftsmanship in cycling especially as a young bike mechanic.

    And it is the perfect form of transportation. I'm 60 years old; a mechanic my entire life; I've built everything from motorcycles tgo aircraft; but I'd still like to spend some time learning from these guys in Britain. It's really almost a crime that the factories shut down and bikes are mostly built in Asian countries.
