I passed my mfs course on a 250 and I don't feel comfortable riding in public traffic. 8-10 hours don't really cut it to learn key techniques to ride safely.

Where do you live in South Houston? I live West of Houston.

Experienced bikers can all spot a newb by the way you ride, so you won't fool anyone if your motivation in buying a 600 is to impress ppl. You won't. Start on an underpowered bike and you will also learn to ride better and faster. I started on a 250, then an SV650S for my 2nd bike. Learned to drag a knee at Lee Park's Total Control, back in a Supermoto at the California Supermoto School, and did Levels 1-3 on my SV at the California Superbike School. Did a dozen track days on the SV. So much fun passing all the 600 and Literbikes on an SV. If you want to learn to ride well and fast wait to buy a 600 as your third bike.

Rode a ninja 250 for a season and just upgraded to an r6. Definitely glad I started on the 250.

I live in the country in MN. Im really thinking of getting an R6 for my first bike. I know I would want a more bigger bike if i got a 300.. Since i live in the country so many open roads and I just want to buy a bike that will last me a long time. And not have to buy a new one

does height and weight has something to do with the control of the bike? Im only 5 8 have to tip toe when I sat on the R6 at the dealership and Im pretty light weight too

Although the R6 is not really a beginner's bike, 600's are good to start with. I see you are keeping the RPM's low (the R6 doesn't come alive until over 8000 revs) and as long as you keep that in mind, one should be ok on a 600. I own a 2012 R6 myself, but my 1st Super Sport was a 2007 CBR600RR. Cruisers before that but once on Super Sports, I don't think I will ever go back to cruiser. Cruisers just do not handle well and , IMHO, one has to be MORE careful on a Cruiser than one does on a Super Sport.

Thanks and keep the faith!

Honda shadow 750 isn't that bad. You have to get used to the weight like I did with mine.
