First UK road test of the Zero S DS electric motorcycle by Sust-it

Timing is everything! http://www.sust-it.net road tested the Zero DS electric motorbike during what seemed to be the only dry weekend this summer! First impressions are that it's a real practical alternative to petrol bikes, designed for everyday use, not some exotic prototype pipedream, all be it a little expensive at nearly £12k!

you save so much money on petrol well for a year ot two anyway until you buy the 2000 pounds replacement battery. Still think your self lucky to survive a year riding the silent death trap

I have the Zero DS and it is awesome. You can go in dirt and water without problems.

Pointless machine. My electric bike does 15 mph and can give me up to 30 miles while keeping my muscles active and providing my body with essential fitness due to the assisted peddling system. Motorbikes are lazy cycles are the future because you can ride them without a licence avoiding the greedy government!.

Like so many things designed in California, little or no thought has been given to use in a cold, wet, muddy environment.

My overnight electricity rate is about 4pence per unit on eco7 tarrif. 14p is day rates or flat rate if you dont have a dual meter readout.

problem with that thing, each 100.000 km u need new batteries wich cost around 9000 USD :) so this thing - 100 kilometer cost 9 USD pluss electric city, most people forget that ;)

New transmission CVT design by BitRaptor. Is a continuously variable transmission CVT gear only (the only one functional in the world), very compact and lightweight, and which could replace the current systems both for efficiency, simplicity and not least the costs. Because this CVT work only with pinions is better the all other systems by efficiency and high torque transmission. If you need to rely on other traffic to hear and see YOU, then you are too trusting and should probably never carry passengers.
