I used to live in Vancouver. Vancouver has hills, and a lot of construction. I found the most practical bike for getting around to be a 24 speed mountain bike. It handles hills no problem, I can bomb over broken pavement, and cut through unpaved areas without a care. A lot of times I was riding my bike, I would see people pushing their fixies because the roadway was inclined.

what if u buy a fixie and the pedal resistance is to hard to push? Is there a way to change the gear to make the pedals easier to push?

I wanted to convert my granfathers old bike into a fixie, im glad i didn't, because i have to go over a steep bridge everyday two or more times, so i put in a enclosed shimano 7 speed, its faster aswell, now i need rims like that
