1. I ride this on mountain trails in Tahoe all the time, great bike, this guy's just trying to upsell.
2. I'm surprised to hear you say not designed for offroad. I bought this bike knowing nothing from a local bike store. I have taken this on offroad trails for dozens of miles now including some black diamond. The bike held up better than me, no more black diamonds for now. I've been over everything so far and it works great offroad and on advanced trails.
