How a clutch works! (Animation)
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
Cars of today normally use a car clutch to transmit power produced by the engine to the gear box. The vast majority of cars and motorcycles rely on dry friction clutches, which will be explained in this animation.

that was actually a very good video. I always wondered what those coil springs were for.
-
That's really simple

Its fun with a 3 on the tree and can shift from 2nd to 3rd without depressing the clutch and it automatically goes into 3rd overdrive saves wear and tear on the clutch. My 49 in my profile picture has a 3 on the tree with overdrive in it and that's a whole separate ball of wax in its self. Its uses a planetary gear setup for overdrive, 1st gear 2nd gear direct drive 2nd gear overdrive 3 gear direct drive 3rd gear overdrive and reverse. Confused yet ? But you have a pull cable you push in our out for over drive to work.

So pretty much the clutch is like a brake for the engine and the gear box to gain and lose throttle while driving?

Looks fragile af !

Quick question.. For a slipping clutch, is it necessary to replace the flywheel also?
