And they work both the upper abs and the lower abs. Just make sure you do this exercise properly and your abs will defines. I have to mention that, you can't get really ripped abs from this exercise. After yoy get good at this exercise, you will need to move up to more advanced ab exercises like the V Ups and the hanging leg raises. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SX8eFytsVfI The bicycles also work the oblique muscles. And this can only be done if you stretch the shoulders enough for the elbows to touch the opposite knee. Remember to keep the feet off the floor through out the exercise. Unless you have been living a very sedentary lifestyle you should be able to do atleast 5 reps of the bicycles. If you have picked up the 3-day bodyweight beginner workout this would be a great ab exercise to do after your workouts. Do this exercise with other effective ab exercises and your abs will become visible in no time.
