sorry guys i am new to bikes and gears shifter
is 3 on the left hand side and 7 speed on the right hand side the highest gear for speed? -
W.T.F. is the thumb and index finger stuff?
-
Still absolutely confused. I just keep peddling and feel like I'm getting knowhere while sweating buckets.

I have been trying to find one video which shows which gear should a beginner ride in, if not sure when to shift.
Would be wonderful if you could have a video which answers the below questions:
1. Which Gear is safe and easy to ride for normal flat road.
2. When at a slightly higher speed how to shift - front or rear (by gear number, many videos talk about make it easy or difficult, for a beginner it easier to say shift lower or higher gear)
3. Combinations to avoid - when would you reach this level and whats the alternative to avoid cross chaining. (A live example would be wonderful ) -
am fucked I bought 1 because I need to go to work but not even half way and I got so tier I was riding on gear 6on left and I didn't know what the right did so I turn it to 3 man I miss a day of work my legs are killing me 😧my boss gonna kill me but maybe my legs need more muscle lol wtf

I bought a new bike a couple months ago, haven't had a bike in ten years. So I was completely confused on the shifters as they are way different than I was used to. This video completely helped in explaining on how the shifters work on my hybrid so hopefully now I won't have anymore chain slips. Thanks!

Thank you very much. This helps a lot!

There are some good, helpful videos on this subject but for some reason this one just seemed to sink in better and made more sense to me. I think it's because there was no tech talk about the actual derailleurs, just good info on changing gears and which hand did what (and what gears to use). Plus a great tip for newbies right at the end. Many thanks :)

Teaching really is a skill. No BS terminology on this one. Thanks so much!

my bike has the lever gears on the bar by my leg which is the old fashioned way and I haven't got a clue what gear I am on the left gear which I think is the front derailer cos there r no numbers and when I change the gear something moves but there is no change to the pedals so are the derailers related as the the only that works is the right one and when I get a very smooth easy pedal in first gear when I hit a slight incline it gets so hard to pedal tips please I am a bik novice cheers
