How To Fix Loud Squealing Screeching Bike Brakes
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
It can be embarrassing when you hit your brakes and they make a loud shrill squeal. There are multiple possible causes for the noisy screeching brakes. I go through the various steps to fix the brakes so they will be quiet. * I am often asked, why didn't I just skip all the earlier steps and go right to end and replace the pads. Because often, one of those earlier steps will solve the problem. In this case they didn't. And in this case, if one of those earlier steps had actually solved the problem, then it would have made a terrible video. Because if there are bunch of problem solving steps to go through, and I only show the first few, then that would help some people, but most people would have been left hanging. Why replace your pads if simply cleaning them would have fixed the noise? But if you want to skip to the last step, go ahead. **If the video was useful or interesting please give it a "thumbs up" and consider subscribing. -Website: http://www.RJTheBikeGuy.com -Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RJTheBikeGuy -Subscribe Here: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=shyflirt1 -YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/RJTheBikeGuy

i think you made an error in not sanding off enough of the old brake pad rubber i had no result from sanding but took of a whole mm with a wood rasp solved i might posit that in really old pads a whole mm of the rubber hardens up ?

i had success putting grease on the rims have topress the brake lever little harder but it worked

Is squealing just irritating for the ears or is it also a sign that I'm damaging my rim walls?
thanks -
so some brakes are just doomed to squeal?
-
Thank you, I will try it tomorrow :)

I could never do it without this video thanks a lot

Great video. Unlike almost all the videos you can find on the internet, in this one you know exactly by the 5 second mark (!!!) whether this the the problem that affects you or not (Yup, the 5 second mark is when I clicked "Liked"). No wasting 3 minutes for the guy to talk about some bullshit before he gets to the actual point. The rest is just as good. Congrats.

I just used baby oil. I put some on a cloth and wiped down all around the silver round bit the breakpads touch. It worked .Got rid of the noise completely. I was so happy.

-
Thanks! fixed my bike. First step.
-
Wasn't necessary to show the brake still squealing after your first 3 steps - makes it look like those first 3 steps were pointless.
-
wth!! you didnt fix them.
-
I found out if the break pads screech it's just time for beans new ones

i like my brake squeal, because people hear me coming, its like a safety feature when you are biking and people just move out of the way, but if i do get tired of the noise i know how to fix it , thanks for showing how many ways to stop the squeal!!
