How to Load and Tie Down a Motorcycle in a Truck or a Trailer
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
Over the years, we've seen people tie down their motorcycles in the craziest ways imaginable using tie-down straps that looked like relics from Great Depression. We decided to take some time and dedicate it to the proper way to tie-down and load a motorcycle into a truck or a trailer including the importance of using the correct tie-down strap.

Thanks man! This really helped me loading my bike onto a trailer the right way!

Fuck this looks hard to do.. dunno how im gonna do mine...

Guess you don't know ratchet straps can be walked down
-
My biggest issue is my cam straps are always to long for me to tie down the bike. Any advice on shortening them?

ha ha, "things that won't fall over when left alone" like trees?

This is booss here i actually came here to see how to tie a simple knot once I got the bike strap down lol!!!!

Any one strap or anchor point fails and the bike falls off the trailer. The procedure I use involves six straps and will keep the bike on the deck and upright if any one strap or anchor point fails. It will also stay secure even if the deck is upside down. I also snake the end of the soft strap through the eye of the hook and then back over the hook. That way if you hit a big bump or have to perform evasive maneuvers and the strap goes slack for a moment, there is no way the strap can fall off the hook.

And I'm going to trailer an '09 Multistrada. I couldn't have asked for a better video. Thanks!

Do not agree regarding ratchet straps, I have used them ONLY for decades. I do recommend using more that two straps of any kind to secure a motorcycle, a loose bike on a trailer or sliding down a highway is a disaster waiting to happen. Take your time, tie the bike down well and secure the wheels when ever possible, a simple piece of rope tied around the wheel rim and a trailer rail is cheap insurance.

thanks very informative.

Great video. Helped refresh in loading and securing my rocket.

it looks like you may have answered this already but don't you have to secure the back tire? I would be loading in a pickup. Cam straps with soft loops in the front and ratchet's in the back with soft loops for good measure? Also, I have a small Ford Ranger where the tie-down points are located more at the top of the bed as opposed to the bottom of the bed - will they still work? Thanks

2:14 it'd be a shame if he drop the clutch

So, how do you get it secured into a truck bed? I only came to this video because the title spesifically says "truck". Clearly you lied, shame on you.

thanks for the info, very helpful

Is it ok to tie the straps around the bike's front axle instead of the handlebars? I've used this with success a number of times, but would appreciate your views on the same.
Also, I generally use four points to tie down the bike, two at the front axle and two using either the passenger footpegs or a part of the frame. -
Wow! I've been riding since '81 and transporting my bike since about '93. I learned some cool tricks from this video to help me load my bike alone safer and easier than I have been doing. Thanks!
