We don't think you'll get too many punctures if you're using tubeless tyres. But, if you do, here's how to fix them and get back on the road. Subscribe to GMBN: http://gmbn.eu/Subscribe Tubeless tyres a tough to puncture. You're unlikely to pinch puncture, and, if you're using sealant, most small holes should be covered pretty quickly. But, if you 'burp' air out of your tyre or get a larger cut, how can you repair them and get back on your way? Burping air is relatively simple to fix; as long as you haven't lost too much air, you can just make sure that the tyre is correctly seated and re-inflate. If you get a larger cut (this is pretty rare but still worth knowing how to fix). You need to act quite quickly. This is where 'slugs', 'anchovies', call them whatever come in. Use them to plug the hole in the tyre (like Neil does in this video) and your tubeless sealant (which you are running, right?) will help to plug the gap, giving you a repair which may last as long as the lifespan of the tyre. I just got a new set of tubeless wheels which on the one hand is great because their a good deal lighter then my tube set but after reading about them... grrr... I spose for known trails and bike parks I'd use em but for something like Megavalanche or other extreme riding I'd have to go tubes + tire liners. Ok. Nice vid! Carry on!

guys dont forget to check inside the tyre for sharp things like thawns ect that may be gone through but the sealants sealed it ...otherwise your put your tube in pump it up and could pucture youre tube then ya back to square 1 lol

Thanks for the video - very clear and useful. I've just gone tubeless and had my first puncture on about my 10th ride. There is no obvious hole or loss of sealant. When I pump it up it goes to full pressure but the next day it's flat again. Any ideas?

with those tubeless repairs well call them string patches, when we apply them to cars (emergency only) or ride on lawnmower tires e.c.t. we apply a little glue to the outside to help ensure no micro leaks and once we punch it in we twist it a few times to knot the inside to help prevent it pooping out. just thought i would add that in in case you wanted to try in on the bike. we also ream the hole out to make sure there isn't any dirt or debris in the hole that could cause a leak or a blow out.
i am looking at getting a new bike (mine is near 20 years old) and i am thinking of going tubeless 29's, so i have no experience with tubeless bikes. -
oh so if ur tubeless tire got flat, punctured/slash etc and u cant fix it anymore with patches, u just go back to use the tube??

With the extra crap you're carrying I fail to see the "saves weight" argument that I keep hearing about going tubeless.

Good presentation of scenarios that helps the tubeless newcomer like myself, which is first attempting to let the tire sealant plug the leak. Then, to plug the larger leak with a patching plug. And then finally, when all else fails, to install your backup inner tube. This implies a basic tool bag of tire plug patch kit, an inner tube, a mini pump, and a means to introduce air in a hurry (before the tire goes completely flat and detaches from the rim), which would be the co2 cartridge. Sounds like a lot of gear, but I'm sure that with my first prematurely ended ride, I would wish I had all this gear. Thanks for the video clip.

Where do you get the tire plug things for blocking bigger punctures?

Buy some glitter and add a few teaspoons to your sealant. It acts like the platelets in your blood and helps to clog slightly larger punctures.

You can sometimes get the bead to seat by useing something like a pair of shoe strings sinched around the outside of the tire. Get it nice and tight and it will help set the bead with just your little tinny pump.

pls do a video where you remove a tire from the rim on a tubeless, i want to see how to use a tire leaver. There doesnt seem to be any video on youtube that shows how to do this. I want to learn how to fix my own tires but I need to see how. Love your videos

hi, always enjoy your videos. Just thought I would mention that I was taught (from dirt biking) to push the plug all the way through and then pull it back out roughly halfway. This way the loose ends flair on the inside due to the pressure and help to seal, but more importantly, keep the plug securely in place. Thanks again for the great video producing!

tubeless tires are the best way to go, it's better to just leave the thorns in the tire. and cut off what's sticking out of tire. the thorn will seal with the tire and air will hold just fine. I had finally changed out my tires after 9 months . and I collected more then 20 thorns holding up the tire. lol. after seeing that I was more then convinced that tubeless tire is the shit lol...
